Default Global/VQ 1.20 size Turbo Porter

Anyone seen one of these yet. I bought one from HobbyPeople, been waiting a year for it. It's already been shipped but I've no idea what it will look like. Anyone have a photo ? Yup, a real leap of faith. MM

MY HECK !!!!! Now that's a Porter !! It might be the same scheme, we'll know maybe Monday. Saito 1.50 might fly it scale, gasser has too much vibration. Could consider a Saito 1.80 or equivilent. Really excited on this ! . MM

Well sure ! When I called HP on Weds, they had only one left. Can anyone with the know-how please post a few pics of this ARF if they can get any for now. This post will take-off once that happens. Nine foot wingspan/seventy nine inch length, not bad. Hope it shows up today, will do a build thread on it. MM

MM, I just got off the phone with Hobby-People and ordered one. The salesman said they still have them in stock. They are shipping it out on Mon. Should see it end of next week or the following Mon. Looking forward to a build thread on this one. Mike (ACF)

You will be VERY IMPRESSED with it !. Trying to figure out a spring shock absorbing tail wheel set-up. What came with it is pretty stiff. Use better quality pushrod parts and consider painting the inside of the cabin. The rest is just great !!. About 15 pounds weight, so a Saito 1.50 will work. Wren turbine would be nice [ if you have that kind of money] Glad they had some left in stock, they are going to go quickly. Mine came today at 2m MST, will start first thing in the morning. MM

Thanks Ray.

But what the heck? Posting in a hodge podge thread? This bird deserves its own build thread.

Here's a few pics. Needs a better tail wheel though. The better looking one is off an OK Models 90 size PC-6. Where could we find one like that MM

Have a look at the Icare RC Porter, I have the 1.9 meter version and it is the best I have found. They have 3 versions, 1.9 2.5 and a 3 meter that has to bee seen to believe. The landing gear is as scale as it can get and the tail is spring loaded.

Jeesh ! I'm a crappy photographer and I must be blind too. Both those tail wheels are of the same. [ and one's blurry at that ! ] I'll do some more in a little bit. Off to Wally-World. MM PS, yes Icare are great PC-6"s but the price.....er...well... No offense intended, but, well, I think I'll be happy with this one MM

Saito 1.50 with 16-6 two blade, thinking about 16-8 three blade for scale looks [and they work just fine for scale performance too] 24oz tank. MM

The plane looks really good Mike! And it really dwarfs your shop!

The Saito is completely hidden inside the cowling?

Yup. but it takes a little squeezing to fit the muffler. Matter of fact, I had to Dremel a notch out of the bottm right-side firewall to get the muffler to fit. That and you still have to make enough room to hook up the glow stik. And yes the Saito is pretty much concealed. MM. This is only half my shop, The wash room has just as much !

Are those the exhaust pipes that come with the kit? They look sooooooooo much better than the ones on the smaller version.

Sorry for the delay, No, those are custom made exhaust pipes. 3/4 inch copper tube elbow, JB welded to the inside of cowl. Supplied ones just were not scale. Also, this was made for a gasser, so I had to put six ounces at the firewall. Very nice having all the electrics in one compartment and an acess door to get at it all. Run a long extension under the floor board to the RX. Stormy weather Saturday so I'm on weather-hold. I would like to also check into one of the ICARE Porters just to be greedy. Off to work, MM

MM I have had both and found the ICARE to be superior in all phases. My VQ had the wing snap out side of the wing joiner. Found the ICARE to be a better build, the overall quality is worth the extra money.

Just my opinion
