H9 extra mods
Hi guys,
I may be bringing up an old subject but its new to me. what if any are the recomended modifications to the H9 33% extra? I have a BME 102 to hang on the front. Hitec digitals all around. was planing on pull, pull on the ruder. and finally, are there any balance/ cg issues youve experienced and what is the realistic( :) ) weight i can expect thanks Hubb |

If it is the newer version with dual aileron servos... you can just build it stock. IMO the fuse is a little weak to lighten much... unlike the H9 CAP. Just don't add any unnecessary weight. Use a minimum amount of light ply to get your gear in and use light gear. CF wing tube from DA, 3.5" Sullivan Skylight wheels, lightened backplate on the spinner or better yet, a CF spinner from Pierre. Every little bit helps. This plane has more of a tendency to come out tail heavy that nose heavy... so pull/pull will work out fine. It also is more forgiving tail heavy than the CAP. Plan on about 27-lbs on an accurate scale with the BME-102.

thanks for the info Joe,
this is the earlier version with one ail servo. what are your thoughts on using one hitec 5945 per ail. (comparable to an 8411) or should i still use two per ail? I heard the weights were higher than advertised 26-27 seems about right, I did not know of the tail heavy condition though. any other thoughts appreciative as always Hubb |

I think one high quality servo like the 5945 is fine. But, make sure your using rigid rods... I would definitely want to use the H9 Titanium rods. Also... two things that would help take some pressure off the servos towards giving in to flutter... one is to lighten those heavy ailerons... and the other is to use a counter balance weight on the ailerons.

I used the standard mufflers, I sold the plane awhile ago, but I think I was using a 24-10 3W prop.
