I am getting this for sure AW Edge 540T .46-.61 2 stroke. I am thinking about powering it with this Magnum XL70 RFS. What do you guys think? Will this be a good combo?

.75 2-stroke or .91-.100 4-stroke is what I think. Probably a Saito 1.00 to keep the weight down.

I was thinking of the same. However, if you look at it, the 75AX weighs more (only slightly- about 2oz or so) as compared to the FS91SII. So it may be a good idea to go for the 95AX then. Then when you look back, the wing-loading now is very high for 3D. After much deliberation, I gave up on this plane-engine thought and bought a Funtana 125 for the 120AX I already have.

For the record, I went down this route on my Topstar 60- it is the same airplane as the H9 Frenzy 60, ucd-60, Flip3D etc. I started with the 75AX and then moved to the FS91SII when I had engine problems. Now I am beginning to think the 75AX was better for that airplane

I have one with a saito 100 and its perfect. Its an excellent flyer.

So should I go more for a .60-.90 size plane? I beleive I would look into 30cc gas at that point. I really just want something that flies good for normal use. The smallest I have now is the Sig 300xs with a 40cc gasser. Its a bit big for everyday, but a great flying plane.

You've heard this before...it depends on how you want to fly. That plane with the Magnum 70 four stroke flies well for sport flying; a friend at my field flies that combo. It does fly a little heavy and does not have unlimited vertical, but is fine for everyday sport flying. If you want more lively performance, a larger engine on that airframe will do so, but might also produce a higher wing loading and faster landings. My friend's already lands fast with the 70. Just my 2 cents. Jon

I suggest to have a look at the AW 60-90 Extra if you are going to use for sports and pattern flying only. It cant do 3D either. For 3D you have to look at a minimum Yak 90-120 QB.

If you are open to other brands, the GP Reactor 46 with a 75ax or 81A up front is very good for 3D. I am currently flying the same at sea level with a 55AX but havent got to 3Ding her yet. Alternatively you can look at the Showtime 50 which is now back in stock, same engine though. If you have a 91 size engine you can also look at the GP Reactor Bipe which is not in stock right now though (I got on of the last ones before it went out of stock)

If you want to go full 3D, you can look at the Seagull Harrier 90 or GP UCDs. Since you live in the US, 3DHS is also affordable to you

All these airplanes are very good fliers with few bad tendencies. The advantage in using a 3D airplane such as the Showtime, Funtana, Reactor etc is that their slow flying characteristics are second to none. In fact, I have been mostly harrier-ing my Topstar to landing with a 15x4 prop as it flies slower than walking speed. With a 14x6 it flies a bit faster
