Seagul pc-9 .40 HELP ! !

I ordered a PC-9 40 size made by Seagul last week and one thing is missing. The dowel that supports the fuel tank. Can anyone who has built one tell me the dowell length for this?

Thanks

IF I REMENBER , I BELIVE IT WAS ABOUT 4.5 INCHES, BUT I NEVER USED IT BECAUSE IT MADE THE TANK TOO HIGH FOR THE ENGINE. I USED A GREAT PLANES TANK, AND LOWER THE TANK SO THE CENTER OF TANK WAS PRETTY LEVEL WITH THE NEEDLE VALVE. HOPE THIS HELPS

Thanks Len, I appreciate it. I have several other tanks that are a little deeper than the one provided. I'll dry fit them and see how they work. Thanks again.

I just built this bird for a friend and I used a Dubro tank and put foam above the tank and the battery pak under the tank and the CG came out just right by doing this. also make sure you epoxy the inside of the firewall because I found some holes that didnt get glued in right.

Thanks for the advice on epoxying the inside of the firewall. I have heard this from a couple of others also. Did you have to cut out any of the inside front support to get your tank to fit or did it fit as is?

I used a tank that fit right into the hole in the firewall and put a mixing stick across the back in to hold it in place and the rx just behind that frame and held it in with another mix stick.. with the foam on top and a foam covered Batt pk they fit in nice and tight...

Seagul pc-9 .40 HELP ! !

Going to finish this plane today. Was curious if you noticed some of the errors in the instructions. The big one was it calls for two control horns to be installed on each side of the elevator. Thought at first I was missing something. Also have read where some folks have had to put washers being the top of the motor mount to pitch the engine angle down a few degrees. Did anyone else have to do this?

Thanks ! !

Yeas I did see that they had used a push pull sys on the instruction but no slot in the tail for that.. I didnt put any more down angle in the motor and I didnt have a problem with flying this bird. It did fly level at full power.

Thanks Sideliner. You've been a big help. If I can get my girlfriend to stop with the "honey do's" I will have this thing in the air. Going with a .46 FX. Read several threads where the .46 FX has done well on this bird.

Thanks Again

On that 46 fx if its new make sure you run about 4 tanks thru it before you fly. After you run 3 tanks you will most likly have to reset the low in needle, when you do only trun it about 1/16 in and give it a try, I have never had to go over 1/8 of a turn to put the carb in sinc. for that motor. that will stop that stumble a mid range. also I like to use Slimline mufflers when I can..

I'm with you on the .46 FX. This engine has been run on another plan of mine for some time. Can beat the OS FX series for reliability and easy tuning. Have a .61 FX I am going to put on a Hanger 9 CAP 232 that is still in the box.

Thanks again for all the help.
