looking for some opinions on this arf. thinking of getting one and linking it to an os 46fx with a macs muffler. hi troque servos on elevator and rudder??? build quailty of the plane?? thanks.

I have one w/a YS 63FZ. The quality is so so, the wing is balsa sheeted foam and in some areas it is not flat and this shows up in the covering. I would go over the whole plane with a covering iron really good prior to assembling the plane. Make sure the ailerons are straight, or take the warp out after gluing them in, and you should be good on a warm day without it really loosening up. I reinforced the area inside above where the landing gear mounts with triangle stock, I saw another one come apart in this area. What I originally thought was a tail heavy plane turned out to be a case of a conservative CG as marked by the designer. Once you get it sorted out it really is a fun plane. I had to put some dark blue covering on the leading edge (all the way to the wing bay cutouts) so that the plane was more visible. Good luck,

didn't make any modifications to the wing or covering on mine, mine was sweet right out of the box. Really excellent flyer and 3d Trainer. I use a .50ossx with a 12.25 x 3.75 prop. Great vertical. I am the only one at my club with one and most people just can't get over how well it flies. Definitely reccomend it.

I powered mine with a magnum .75 2-stroke. This is a great power combo. I can hover at half throttle and really have the power to pull vertical to really do the 3D with. You will be cheating yourself with a .46. I would go with a light .61-.75 or go with a YS .63, Saito .91 or Magnum .91 4-cycle. Saito would be a lot lighter than the magnum. Both are good engines (no flames please about saying the magnum is a good engine, I have had great luck witg all mine).

I used Hitec 605 servos all around, and standard on the throttle. Watch your servo setup for the throttle, elevator, and rudder. It is tight in the fuse and I had to do some re-engineering to get everything in there and have the pull pull clear the servos. Standard servos would probably work, but these are really big surfaces...

I also put a 14 oz tank in mine. Tight fit, but worth the extra flight time. This was my first ARF and I have enjoyed it. I wrote a quick review of it in the review section here. You have to look back a couple of months though.

Rest of the construction went well. Goes together very quick with little to no effort to build it straight. You do have to re-shrink some of the covering and don't use tape on your canopy while glueing it on, it will pull the paint right off of it.

I did have problems with bending my gear on takeoff. Had the rudder/tailwheel steering way to sensitive. I did some violent S-turns and then some on takeoff and that was enough to mangle the gear. I could have bent mine back in shape and re-used them, but I had a set from an old GP .40 sized Extra 300 I used instead. This was a great choice since they are a lot stronger and have let me do my harrier landing without messing the gear up every time.

All-in-all a would say this is a good plane. Worth the money I spent on it. Good luck if you decide to get one.
