WorldModels PT-26

I just bought a World Models PT-26 Fairchild NIB off ebay.

I can't find any reviews of this plane anywhere, and there isn't much said about it on this forum.

Any thoughts on this kit??

It recommends maximum of 4 stroker 70, but I have a 91 Surpass I'm gonna try and make work. Will reinforce the firewall etc.

Anybody have any thoughts of this plane and or motor combo please share.

Thanks.

They fly great.

In any case, World don't have a "dud" in their stable.

Model Airplane News did a review of this a few years back........take it for what their reviews are worth.........I believe it's on thier website in the "reviews" section.

Yeah, I found the review listed on Mdel Airplane News, it's just not published under the reviews.

Basically, I found reference to it on their site, but it's not one of the ones they have online

Maybe somebody remembers what the gist of the review was...

I should receive mine tomorrow, and was hoping to get some hints whatever about how she flys.

My dad has one powered with a OS 46fx. It flys pretty well. Take offs are uneventful. In the air it tracks good, but doesn't have the super solid feel of some of the other world planes I have. The lands are not much problem either except for the gear. We fly of a paved runway, and it handles it just fine. Grass seems to be pretty rough on it. It is a really nice looking plane, quality is up there. The 46 is plenty of power for it. We are usually crusing at 1/4 throttle to keep it looking pretty scale. I believe in the model airplane news article a saito 56 was used and he thought it was perfect. It is a real light plane, so you really don't need too much engine. It flys pretty clean, and takes a little while to bleed off speen, but will slow to a crawl. Have fun.

Hey thanks, I ordered a 46 for mine as well.

I also take off from grass field mostly, hope the retracts hold...

I received the PT-26 today, it looks awesome. The gear bay is a little rough, but I should be able to fix it up.

Could anyone please tell me what the control throws and CG need to be set at? I just bought a used World Models PT-26 and it does not have any information with it.

I scanned my instructions, sorry the scanner seems to have a slight problem but you should be able to read 50 mm throw total for elevator, 90 mm throw total for rudder, 24 mm throw total for aileron, and CG is 98 mm/3.86 inch behind LE of wing.

Thanks for the fast response! I will be able to fly it soon. Mine has a O.S. 46fx in it. I will fly it once or twice and take it with me to a warbird airshow in Denver on June 12th.

I flew with tower Hobbies 46 and it was fast. I used MA 10 X 8 prop.

Unfortunately, the wing servo supports were weak and I had a servo pop out in flight. i now reinforce all servo mounts with epoxy etc.

Ive been flying mine with an OS 40LA. and it flies great. Ive had some problems with the landing gear bending back on hard landing. i plan on replacing the whole retracts.

Does anyone know where i can get a replacement canopy? i cracked mine and i would like to get a replacement for it.

RE: WorldModels PT-26

If you can't get them through World Models anymore, I'm sure I have a new canopy, cowl and stickers somewhere.

When I get home later I'll check. I'm sure we can work something out.

I trashed my PT-26 due to a aileron servo mount coming loose in the wing. Now I re-enforce all mounts on all the ARF's I buy. I originally was going to put her back together, but decided to just purchase a different plane. I did order the new items before deciding to scrap the plane. I went with a ARF P-51 instead.

my wing servo mounts were weak to, they cracked when i was installing them, so i remade them with hardwood, and they work great, havent had any problems yet

Hi, I haven't forgotten about you... just really busy and haven't had a chance to try to locate the canopy. I will hopefully get a chance to check tomorrow.
