Razzle From Seagull

Hi People.
Just purchased a razzle artf, nice plane to look at lots of colours but poor quality,..
After only 2 flights the rudder just snapped clean off leaving me with just a bad of poor quality balsa wood.
I was not giving it to much up there infact the rudder snapped on level flight on a approach.

Another guy at the field also had a model artf kit from seagull not sure which model, some low wing thingyyyyy, He had a stabilzer snap clean off on the right side lucky enough he was able to land without to much problems.

Anyway anyone else had any trouble with seagull models or was it just us 2?

Razzle

I got mine last weekend and flew it yesterday. I have a Saito 91GK on mine and it flew great. I need to add some more right thrust though, and change the prop. I also got a neat lighting system in it so I can fly it at night. It is pretty cool. Once I get a little mor custom to it I will try a night flight.

However mine seems to be OK structurally. I did have to add some CA in a few areas and tighten the covering on the fuse. For $150 I am happy. I really twisted the crapp out of it yesterday too. It did many fast snaps and blenders and some other 3D stuff to. I was happy.

Sorry to hear about yours. Have you called Seagull Models yet? What is their support like? I hope it turns out OK in the end for you.

Seagull Razzle 3D

2 minutes into the test flight of my new Razzle, the right stab and elevator blew off it. Luckily I got the plane down relatively in one piece. Once down the ooh-arr squad noticed that the left stab was cracked as well. Anyone else with similar problems?

Engine: OS .61 FSR
Prop: Bolly 13.5 by 6.
PS The plane was flying straight and level at less than half throttle.

Razzle From Seagull

I have read somewhere on rcuniverse that seagull are starting to make the back end of the razzle more rigid.
Hope so as ill buy another 1. A bit late though as my razzle is nothing but firewood at the moment

I have a razzle with an OS91 up front. This is way over powered and requires 200g of weight on the tail to get the cog on 14cm from LE. Like this is flys like a pendulum, really, really poorly. Untrimmable and flickish.

A guy at our club lost a stab and elevator (I think left) on his Razzle last summer. Also broke clean off at the fuse. He managed to land it ok, and I believe he has repaired it and flown it again since. Sounds as if some bracing, wire or tri stock, might be in order.

RE: Razzle From Seagull

You have to put flying wires on the verticle/horizontal stab or they will snap, very soft balsa in those areas. Also if you slam it a little too hard on a landing the fuse will snap just behind the cockpit unless you reinforce it. I ran a MDS .68 and then a Satio 1.00 on mine
and didn't need any weight for C/G correction. When i did add weight it would porpose badly and was no fun to fly. Pluses for the plane though is that it floats in for a landing and if you mix spoilerines/with elevator so that you have down spoiler w/full down(40+degrees) elevator it will do a wicked waterfall and if you add the right amount of rudder it will fall to side and wind up in a knife edge spin that rotates at a very scary rate. Its a good plane for the money but needs some attention in the areas just mentioined. Its not made to fly fast except straight up.

take care
