BLIND NUTS DRIVING ME NUTS
Hi Fellows
Need some help here. I´m having a hard time trying to remove the blind nuts from the firewall of my Hangar 9 P47 RazorbacK, the powerplant is a DLE30 and the mounting holes are to close to the blind nuts already on the wall. Did try the tapping but they just are very well glue I guess. Any other idea besides using TNT are wellcome. Best Regards, Daniel |
RE: BLIND NUTS DRIVING ME NUTS
You put a bolt in and hit it with a hammer? And it still doesn't come out? Weird. Can you tell what kind of glue they used? Maybe use something that will make the glue loosen. Or, worst case scenario, drill them out from the front and just pop the backs off.

Hi Tom
No idea what kind of glue the put on it but I assure you is good so good that the first one I tried to tap did a small crack on the layer of the plywood therefore decide to stop the tapping. I was considering the same idea of drill them out as you mention, I guess that the best shot. Thanks, Daniel |
RE: BLIND NUTS DRIVING ME NUTS
Put a screw in them and apply some heat via soldering iron. The heat will weaken the glue and you will find they will pop right out.

RE: BLIND NUTS DRIVING ME NUTS
Try finding a socket slightly larger than the blind nut, insert a screw and washer through drive side of the socket and into the stuck blind nut from the blind nut side of the firewall, then tighten the screw to pull out the stuck blind nut into the socket. Basicly using the socket/screw combo as a a "puller" to free the blind nut. hope this helps...

Guys, since I have the soldering iron handy I give it a shot and did work perfect, they came out easy.
Thank you all for your help, now I can go to bed happy:D Thanks again, regards Daniel |

Ah, I always forget trying heat. Very good. Will have to remember that one. I do the same for loosening wheel collars that have been Locktited.

And always remember to hold your tongue "juuust right" when you tap that weapon of choice.

Gotta remember them both for the future! Jon |
