RV-8 with FG-14 HELP!!!
Well I screwed up... After what I thought was checking all the details I must have missed one...
I purchased a Hanger 9 RV-8 and was (and still want to) going to install the FG-14 motor in it... Long story short... It's TOO LONG>>>>> About 3/4" total..... Now I figure I will have to either cut the firewall and shorten it by 3/4" or somehow lenghten the cowling by that 3/4"... Anyone have any ideas??? I'd like to keep the FG-14,, I think that will be a fantastic motor for this plane... Now that I own both items now what??? |
RE: RV-8 with FG-14 HELP!!!
Not familiar with your model, but if there's an engine mounting box protruding from the firewall, shortening that is commonly done to fit an engine. Pics of what you have going on might help with other ideas?

Looks like you might be able to cut a hole in the firewall for thecarburetor to move the engine back.<!EndFragment>
