Got that baby off the ground this morning. Every thing went well. I saw a friend of mine fly his a few months ago and was ready for the nosing over on takeoffs and landings.
* I have an OS 1.08 (inverted) up front which there is more than enough room for. Pulled just great with a 15/8 prop. Retracts were fine using Kavan wheels.
After a couple minutes of trimming, I started to relax but then a few more laps it was time to come in. I couldn't see the darn thing.
Gray and black was not good and my vision is still 20/15. I am going to add a couple of wide white strips near the out edge to help on those turns.
Definitely a keeper. :cool:

Kind of amazing how long they stay in ground effect isn't it. Mine will stay a foot off the deck for a lot longer than you would think. Did yours' do the same? Mine is pushing the 10 pound mark with fuel so it was not expected at all. It is a keeper.

Yeh, I pride myself on takeoffs, especially on warbirds. I use alot of runway and just ease it off. You jerk one of these off the ground like a "stik" and that baby is coming right back down.
Mine came in at 9.5lbs. Funny, I didn't think many airplane guys knew what "ground effect" is. Take care.

Probably less know what "cyclic hardover" is other than your RCU name.

Is it possible to modify the wheel openings to install a more scale size wheel( ~4.5"), or is the spar in the way. I like the P-47 and am looking for something to put my 1.20 4stroke in. This one looks like it has reasonble outline, but those "Itty Bitty" wheels look rediculous. Besides, I fly off grass.

I don't have the plane with me at the moment so i am not sure on the wheel thing but the 120 should fit okay inverted with an opening in the bottom. I tossed the stock wheels and replaced them with Kavans. They are definitely a "plane saver."
*A small reminder is that I was still slightly tail heavy even with the 1.08 up front. :confused:

I added a larger Robart wheel. Dont know the size off the top of my head, but I measured the wheel well, and used the size that fit a lil snug. retracts seem to work OK on test. Did grind a little of the wheel well out just for a bit more room. Haven't flown yet but the wheeld do look a lot better then those lil foam wheels.
