Cermark Extra 260 70"
Hey all... I am currently building this bird ( the yellow one )and I am ready to mount the gas tank as well as the throttle servo. The tank if mounted on the floor of the fuse will be some 2 inches or so below the motor. Now I know the gas motors have a pump to draw fuel but do I need to elevate the tank at all inside the fuse??? Also I see no real good place to mount the throttle servo unless I go way back to the back tray where the pull pull rudder servo mounts and that would give me like a 14" long throttle linkage??
Any of you guys that have built this bird that can guide me in the right direction?? Any pics of you "inside" setup? Thanks for any help from the pros out there!!! Mark |

With a gas motor it doesn't matter where you put the tank.

I'm not Jedi Jody or TiredOldMan but I've been doing this for a while :)
Trust me on this, tank location is non critical. I've seen them broken in on the bench with the fuel can on the floor. |
RE: Cermark Extra 260 70
I do the same as well. My engine stand is 30" off the ground and I just set my gas can by the test stand and drop a line down into the gas can. My DLE 55 would not draw the fuel from the gas can being on the ground so I sat it on a chair next to the test stand. The gas can was still not even with the carb.

RE: Cermark Extra 260 70
Thanks guys. I actually got if fired up last night with the tank on the fuse floor. Actually had a hard time getting it going and it ran fine for 3 - 4 mins and then I never got it fired again. I think i need to keep the tank somewhat full as last night it was just enough to get her started and was jumping around a bit and possibly sucking some air.. Think maybe my ignition bat was a bit low also. I have run maybe 4 - 5 tanks of fuel through this motor and it seemed to run pretty good.... Don't think it is even broken in yet, but it has always been pretty easy to get started. Last night was a bit concerning cause it was hard to get her to fire. Once she fired she would start right back up, but hen became fussie and didn't want to go. Like I said before maybe was too low on fuel and a bit low on bat??
