senior telemaster
I want to purchase the Senior Telemaster but I don't know what to expect. I want to set it up for nitro, I am a little bit worried about how the motor will mount. I have also read some terrible reviews. I just don't know what to expect. I NEED HELP!</p> |
RE: senior telemaster
Strange that you should say that as I have never seen or heard a bad review of the Hobby Lobby's Senior Telemaster. As I know it, the ST is a big, well mannered easy flying model that can be powered by electric, glow or gas. Any good .61-75 size glow or .20cc gas engine will provide very satisfactory power and should give you a really nice flying model.

One TM I know of only flew only once. The wing was weak and came apart, flying back and hitting the tail feathers. The plane fell like a rock, total lose!

RE: senior telemaster
Geez, consider the power it was designed for originally? Overpowering, then wondering why the wings fold on you seems pretty simple to me. Don't over power it, but if you do and something happens, it's on you? Because it'll easily balance/carry the weight doesn't always mean it's a good plan....

RE: senior telemaster
Ok power seems to be critical. My question is, is an os 65 to much? Can you tell me how I am going to mount it with the wooden rails in the front. I would go electric but every thing I have is nitro and I am not set up for electics. I was also told that the instruction manual leaves alot to be desired. What can you tell me about that?

RE: senior telemaster
A .61 engine will be sufficient power, and believe it or not, not all that long ago all engine mounts or bearers were made of wood.

RE: senior telemaster
I have two Sr. Telemasters, one OLD kit version with an OS .91 4 cycle and an ARF with a Zenoah G-23 in it. The kit version flies very well and sounds awesome with the 4 cycle in it. The ARF was modified for a bolt on wing, wheel pants and a few other things. It also flies very well. Yes it's way over powered and will go straight up but when flown at 1/3 throttle it sounds and looks very realistic. Having the engine turn much lower rpms makes it sound really cool. If you buy the ARF, it has the engine bearers for a glow engine. Also spread some extra epoxy around critical areas as they really are built light for electric power.

I think you'll find this kit; http://www.amr-rc.com/index.php?path...its&SUBSC=kits to be assembled&page=kits_info&produit_id=385&marque=AMR &langue=en is much easier to build, has a two piece wing and is more robust than the Senior Telemaster. I've had a couple of Seniors over the years and they use that old stick construction and the one piece wing gets old in a hurry when tranporting the bird. Jerry.

RE: senior telemaster
The ARF version is/was a two piece wing. You must use the struts with the ARF also.
