What has happened to SIG? I wanted a Four Star 60 or 120 but seems as they are no more.

You looking for the ARF or the kit to build?

If it is the ARF they are saying that they will have them again in 2012, Sig has been bought out
and now has new owners, they are getting things back on track, but it will take some time to
get the ARF's flowing back into stock. Remember they have to order ARF's in container loads
to have competitive pricing.......If you are willing to wait they will become available again, if not
build one from a kit, not a difficult thing to do, and much more enjoyable to boot ! ! ! ! !

Seems as if the last remaining of the original kit manufacturers are slowly disappearing, one by one.

SIG is still delivering kits. I built an Ultimate 100 last year and just received a Hog Biplane today. They are also making many other kits. Their selection of ARFs is somewhat limited but check out their web site. I have used both the web site and the phone to place orders and have found them to fill and deliver my orders promptly.

Yea Sig has the Four Star sixty in stock. Price went up from a hundred bucks to 156 dollars. I guess new owners need to recoup their investment. I don't think that company's future is going to be bright if they shaft the consumers this bad. Time to go back to scratch building. Balsa wood has not gone up fifty five percent in price.

Do the Sig kits still have great wood as they did in the past? Is there any place to get a better deal on Sig kits than from them? Thanks Brian

RE: SIG

I can remember all too well my first Sig kit, a Kougar Mk 11 and the wood that came with it. Those were the days before laser kit cutting was the norm, and I ended up cutting that good quality balsa for days on end. I have a NIB kit in my shop and quite possibly for that same reason it will never get built by me.

Maybe not, but everything else is going up too. The loaf of wheat bread I used to buy at WallyWorld that was $1 is now $1.34, so even bread has gone up 34%...

When is the last time you bought balsa wood? Over the past 2 years balsa has increased vastly in price,
I buy balsa at least 4-5 times a year for my projects, $200-$300 worth of basla in 1/16" - 1/4" used to
be a very large box, now it will fill a box almost 1/4 of the size it used to fit into. Some sizes have jumped
in price 100%.
