RE: Good Float Plane
The floats should be 75 to 80 % the length of the aircraft.

RE: Good Float Plane
I have flown a Hobbistar with floats ( see thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_64...tm.htm#6463033 for more detail and video clips ). It has a 71 inch wingspan and I used 42 inch floats - works great. Use an engine in the upper recommended range to deal with the extra weight.

RE: Good Float Plane
A friend of mine ( who is an excellent builder) was given a G&P Sales PBY for a retirement present............he claims it is the biggest P.O.S. he has ever seen in a kit and will probably pitch it....................;)

RE: Good Float Plane
I know I am a year behind reading this. I just discovered this site. Did your buddy build the kit? I have access to a lake and am looking for another water kit. If your buddy didn't build and still has it wuold he be willing to sell it ? Dan

RE: Good Float Plane
:D:D Original post is 4/18/2002. Sea & float planes should be as LARGE as possible due to open areas of the water & the waves. Size matters. |
