I have both, but prefer kits.

When you build a kit, you KNOW it's built right, and it usually doesn't look like everyone elses airplane at the field.

I prefer to buy used here on RCU-- Kits already built, or ARFs already built, or builders to assemble ARFs or kits for me-I have found them all from Ohio to Texas to within 2 hours of home.
BEST DEALS ARE HERE--

Kits in the fall and winter & ARFs in the spring and summer.

I like warbirds!
They make a lot of arfs that they do not make into kits. I am building a T-34 Mentor. I have always wanted one all yellow. I bought it for 149.00. I am modifing a lot of things but it is still a arf. I like that they have a lot of planes to choose from

It looks to me like we can all stop wondering why manufacturers are shying away from kits and just ARFing it.

You know what? I could have went the rest of the year without seeing another poll, let alone one on this subject. I know I didn't need to read it but lets face it this horse has been beat to death and the the glue from it is alresdy in the trash.

I'm willing to bet that the REAL goldmine is the ARF manufacturer who also sells the SAME airplane in kit form. Obviously it is in kit form prior to whoever assembles the airplane to make it to ARF form.

That way you know how well it's built... Imagine a GP Pitts, known for upper wing issues, but if you built it in kit form, you'd fix those issues and anything else PRIOR to covering it... No seams where joints are, etc...

I'd love a kit version of the Aeroworks 31% edge 540t, but they just have ARF versions out :( I'm sure it's built perfectly, but with my budget, I could afford a kit, then put it together as I can afford it...
