EZ Zero
 

I've had this EZ Zero for sometime. Thinking of building it and flying it with an OS70 four stroke. Can anybody give any tips on the plane. Is it tail heavy? How does it fly and land?

I have an EZ Zero that I started flying in 1994. It's a great flying airplane! Mine was powered by an OS .45 2-stroke. I don't really remember balancing it, but I'm sure it wasn't a problem. It comes out very light so it was easy to take-off and land. I flew it in my first fun-scale contest and won first place!

The only problem I had with it was that it was kinda fragile. I don't know how the current ones are built but mine was a simple wood frame covered with a foam board (like a styrofoam cup). The cowel, fillets, and several other parts are plastic. When the foam board gets wrinkled or torn it is very difficult to repair it so that it doesn't show. The same goes for the plastic parts. They develop cracks after a couple years and don't look so good.

I retired mine after flying it for about 4 years because it was starting to look pretty rough. I still have it hanging up in my basement. I think you will be really happy with the way it flies. The OS .70 ought to work really well in it! Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. Saw a friend fly the world model zero, it seem much heavier and it was tail heavy. It does not have the same scale look as the EZ model. Four years of flying the model seems value for money.

I've had several of the EZ Zeros. I powered mine with an OS91 4 stroke and a Graupner 3 bladed prop. (12x8) It flew excellent. Just like it was on rails. The EZ Zero was easily the best of their large warbird series (this one was the 60" span) It needed nothing to balance with the 91 in there.
