Which adhesive to use?
 

About to finish up my Hanger 9 P-51 blue nose .60 and built my own exhaust from balsa and alum. tubing. Need to know what adhesive I should use to attach them to the cowl, canopy glue, epoxy or super glue? Want to do it right the first time!

30 min epoxy or JB Weld

If you use epoxy and that includes JB Weld, be sure to sand the area on the fuselage or cowl where the exhausts will be attached. If not, epoxy will tend to pop off of a slick surface. If gluing directly to wood, fiberglass, etc. go for it. I've used canopy glue for small things such as this as it tends to have an excellent grip on most any surface. Gorilla glue would also work very well but you would have to use it sparingly and clean up the ooze before it set up. It would certainly be strong enough though.

Epoxy is my choice also. ;)

I would put some screws thru from the back side for the epoxy to grab onto in addition to roughing up the surface....Just some little # 0 by 1/4" thru from the back side ..

RTV silicone works well for high vibration areas.

Me too.I use sikaflex nearly the same thing but you can paint it,silicone scares everything paintwise and sika is so strong,just wipe the surface quickly with acetone,press whatever on and it's there for life,you'll have to grind it off.As said above it's perfect for vibration damping of the part it's attached to too:)

Where can you get sikaflex? I are having trouble keeping my windshield glued.
