Need help identifying an older arf
1 Attachment(s)
Someone at work wants me to fix up this old arf back to flying condition again. It's not in to bad of shape, I just don't know who made it. The fuselage is made out of a hard plastic material. It looks like it Was a two piece body that was glued together at the center seam. It has flashing around the center seam where it is glued together. The wing is made out of foam with some covering over top of it. It has an Os 40 engine on it. Other than that I don't know much about it.
The wing I think is in ok shape but it does feel like there may be a weak point or fracture in one side of the wing. Would you trust flying it as or repair it first. I have been thinking about shoving an arrow shaft down the center of the foam to make sure it's strong enough. |

Hi
I think that is a Flitecraft ARF. Long out of business. I did a little search real quick, not much there. You might have better luck. Vince |
RE: Need help identifying an older arf
The flitecrafts hbad a problem with wings folding. Strapping tape across the bottom helped.

ORIGINAL: vpresley Hi I think that is a Flitecraft ARF. Vince Personally, I wouldn't bother expending any time and resources on it. Your friend can buy an el cheapo Chinese ARF "trainer" for less than a hundred bucks, use the engine/electronics in that derelict, and have a much better model. Of course, if the OP is looking for a challenge... Then by all means, give it a shot. I had the low-wing example, and the wing failed after less than a dozen flights. They were pretty much junk, IMO... . |
RE: Need help identifying an older arf
The only thing that is good in this plane is the motor. The electronics are old and outdated AM tx and rx. I thought about building a simple constant chord wing that is built up out of balsa. That would be a lot stronger and lighter in weight. What do you guys think about that?
