GP Spacewalker Gas Engine
I am looking into getting a Great Planes Spacewalker ARF and I am wondering what gas engine to put on it. I would like to go with some kind of weed wacker conversion engine. What engine would fit the best and what sixe do I need to fly this plane. What will I have to do to get it to balance properly. Any one out there do this to this plane yet. Let me know.

RE: GP Spacewalker Gas Engine
I've got a Zenoah G23 on CH Electronics ignition on mine. The plane balances perfectly with 3 servos under the stab. I've got several weedie conversion engines that would fit too, but I simply picked the smallest displacement gas engine I have, since the Spacewalker would be way overpowered on any of them. You'll need a side carb and side exhaust engine, as the cowl is not very long. Ryobi is out of the question. I've got several Kioritz/Echo 25.4cc engines that are also perfect fit for this plane. Homie 25 or 30cc could possibly work, but are a bit porky. You'd need to use an electronic ignition on any conversion engine. This plane likes about a 30 Oz engine with servos up front and about 40 Oz with servos at the tail. Anything with stock magneto will be easily over 3lbs and too heavy.

This would be a great plane for a small gasser. They come out tail heavy.

I would recommend the RCS 1.4 gas engine or the MVV Engines. (sp?)

RE: GP Spacewalker Gas Engine
I have a 21cc weedie that I want to convert. I didn't thnk about the CH ignition mod. I am undecided about what engine to use on this plane. I would really like to get a 4 stroke glow engine but they cost a fortune. I have a new ASP 1.08 that I could use also. I would really like to get into gas engines. The cost of fuel is the main reason.

RE: GP Spacewalker Gas Engine
If that 21cc is a Weedeater brand, forget it. It's not worth converting, as the power is probably equal of a .60 glow.
OTOH, if it is the Echo 21.2cc, then go for it. |
