According to the builder, the plan is blown up 350%. His post does not mention any changes, in his first post. Later on, he goes on to explain that he has shortened the fuselage length.
So, this would make the Rascal ARF a sport scale model. One could still build a "scale": model from Earl's 3 views, though. |

After flying my Rascal 110 I think Sig really needs to kit this bird !
I would love to get a broken wing to reverse engineer a Sig senior sized wing.. What a great flier.. |

Re the "rumors of a giant scale Rascal kit", for me the 110" Rascal I currently own is "giant scale"! It's the largest plane in my fleet and due to the costs and logistics of transporting anything larger, it is likely to remain as the big kid in the hanger. It and my 1/4 scale J-3 cub are my "big" planes. For me planes in the 75"-80" wingspan area are the most practical. Outfitting costs (engines,servos, radios etc.) are within reason, transporting logistics are doable, and they are large enough to fly well and be easily seen in the air. For some others those are not restrictions that matter and more power to them. To me the chase for ever larger and larger model airplanes at some point gets silly, why not just get a full scale and get to ride in it?:cool:

If possible, could someone give me the dimensions of the 110" Rascal's landing gear? I need the dimensions of the plate that is bolted to the bottom of the fuse, and the distance between the 2 axles and the height of the gear from the axles straight up to the mounting plate.
I need a replacement gear for one of my scratch-built models and this looks close, but I need dimensions. Thanks in advance! |
Lifer, The plate that is bolted to the bottom of the fuselage is 5 1/4" wide (so is the fuselage). The distance between the two axle mount plates (with no weight on them) is 19" inside dimension. The height of the gear from the C/L of the axles to the top of the mounting plate is 6 3/8". Hope this helps, what aircraft are you trying to fit this to?

Thread revival: Rascal 110 firewall dimensions
Hi Rascal fliers. I have a 50cc gas 4 stroke that has equivalent power to a 38cc gas 2 stroke, just swings a high pitch prop very quietly. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the Rascal 110 firewall?

A gas powered Saito FG-30 would have a similar footprint but only puts out about 2.5 HP while the High compression FA-180 with CDI and methanol makes about 3.25 HP. |
Hmmm, mount the engine upright and extend the landing gear forward and the Rascal would REALLY look like an Old-Timer.
