Remote Glow
 

I had to mount my 91 surpass inverted and the glow plug is hard to get too. I have never had a remote glow. Can anyone recommend a good one. I have been looking at Dubro's from Tower Hobbies. Anyone have good luck with them?

I use the Hanger 9 remote glow plug adapter.....easy install and works great. I would imagine for you guys south of the border that Horizon Hobby carries them but up north I get my stuff from Great Hobbies.

Before you shell out for on board glow, you might consider spending bit more & going W/CDI.

Lower dependable idle, easier flip starts W/O kickback, a slight increase in power, 25% or more improvement in fuel economy & less slimey mess.

If you eliminate nitro completely, your fuel costs will be cut in half.

You can find this part and information on Horizon Hobby website. It sells for about $7.95, or you can find the same part on Ebay for perhaps a couple of dollars less.

I have two of these from several years ago and they still work perfectly. http://www.nelsonhobby.com/advanced_glow_switch.php They work independently of the throttle setting and sense when the plug is cooling and turn on. With the other ones operation is dependent on throttle setting even if you adjust it for your particular model. That means at some point in time the glo plug will not re-light and the engine could quit. The Nelson one senses the plug loading up and turns on. Expensive but works better than any of the others I have tried. Heck you can buy a 2000 ma or better nicad and a roller switch and make your own if all you want to do is turn it on at a low throttle setting by having the servo arm depress the roller arm. An on/off switch for power and some sort of charge jack and there you have it a simple on board glo set up.
