flight model apollo 50
 

Anybody putting one of these together?I see very little about them online.I've got one almost complete,but can't make my mind up on which engine to use.I have several to chose from OS 46,55,NovaRossi 50,and a Saito 65,and 82b.All of these engines are well broken in and are all pretty close in weight.This airframe is very light and sturdy,built mostly of light ply and some balsa.Any thoughts?

Hey guys,going with the Saito 82b.Doesn't seem to be much interest in this airframe,but I'll let you know how it turns out.

It's glow or electric and comes with both types of motor mounts.

Hey guys just a quick update,I went with the Saito 82b had it mounted inverted nothing but problems because of tank position.I remounted it 90 degrees it now preforms like it always has "perfect".I was using a 14x4w prop on it but seemed to nick the blades every landing.Landing gear isn't tall or strong enough except in a perfect landing so I was using a 13x7x3 blade prop not near as good as the 14x4w prop but it survived my landings.Well I did some looking around the Tower site and seen that the Apollo 70 landing gear were a bit taller and looked stronger so I ordered some.They got here in a couple of days and when I compared them with the stock gears all the bolt holes lined up perfect only difference was the mounting tang was about a inch to long so I ground it down to the same length as the stock gear.Flew about six flights today and I'm very happy with this plane now.This plane flies just like my Kaos just slower and smoother.Its to bad Tower seems to be dropping this line cause they are very nicely built they just need a little work by the end user.I guess that might be the reason,people want perfect out of the box.

I am happy that you like it Jim....the Apollo 50 is one of my favorites and every time I fly it someone will comment on how well it flies!
