Fly Model 30cc MXS-R
1 Attachment(s)
I just got the Fly Model 30cc MXS-R from RCJETSWORLD. It arrived with no damage and the Cardboard box was heavily reinforced so all the parts where nicely protected. I hope to get started with the build this week. The manual is on a 3.5" CD and is a generic form because is shows many 30cc size planes. It is straight forward so I do not see any problems that cannot be over come. Here is a pic of the plane in the cardboard box.

I plan on using Power HD 1214th HV servo's on this plane. Here is a short video of them working at 7.4v them seem to return to center very well.

I am flying their 30cc Sbach and have a "Thunderbird" under assembly..........I like their quality and the Sbach flies GREAT!

Boy..... I swear this plane was made by the same people as made mine. I bought a MXS-R from General Hobby and it looks exactly the same except for the color. What made me think it's from the same people is the box it came in. 1/4" coragated cardboard I bet. Mine was made by Skyliner. Interesting

Yes the box was 1/4" corrugated cardboard. I will be working on the wings tonight and will post some pics later:)

Got the ailerons installed. The kit came with larger robart style hinges. All holes where pre drilled and I test fitted the ailerons before I glued them together. I used q-tips to damped the holes with a little water. I then put a dropped of gorilla glue into each hole. I used another q-tip to push the glue down deep into the hole. Once I had the ailerons installed I used painters tape to hold them in place so they would not move. Here is couple of pics.:o

Got the ailerons & Servo's installed. The rods that came with the kit where to long for the servo's so I had some shorter rods that worked better. I am using Power HD 1214th servo's on this plane. They are coreless with titanium gears. Here are a couple more pics.

Got the horizontal stabilizer installed and the fuel tank along with the EME-35. There were no instructions on how far to put the prop hub out from the fire wall so I installed the cowl and measured with a ruler that it needed to be 6 3/4" out. The EME-35 was 6 1/2" so I use the plywood spacers that came with the kit to get the 6 3/4". Here are a few more pics.

Things are coming together well. Here are a few pics of the elevator, Rudder & tail wheel. I really like the quality of the supplied hardware. There was some missing screws but being in the hobby as long as I have that has never been a problem.

The plane is finished and I did the maiden flight today. The CG was set to 4 3/4" from the leading edge at the fuselage. The EME-35 with a 19x8 prop had more than enough power for this plane. The plane came in at 11lbs 2oz and the engine is producing 20lbs of thrust. The plane takes off very nicely at 1/3 throttle and does not need much runway. It fly's like it is on rails and goes where you point it. I am not a 3D flyer so nothing to report on that but it does do all on the stunts without any trouble. The landings where a thing of beauty 3 point landings with no bouncing at all. Here are a few pics. Sorry no video:(

11 days from box to flight line.......pretty good!
|
Yes this is a very easy ARF to put together and comes with some very good carbon fiber hardware. If you can spend 2 hours a day on this plane you will have it together in 10 days easy. The Power HD 1214th servos fit perfectly and are more than enough torque for this plane at 6v. The EME-35 seems like it was the engine this plane was designed for.:o
