Best Engine for Aresti by H9
I'm thinking about sticking an O.S. 91 on this plane is this too much. A friend of mind had this .91 on a .40 size warbird, and the engine ran just beautful. All of your thoughts are appreciated.
Also, he had an O.S. but what about Thunder Tiger. The other thing is, the O.S. 91 weighs less than the .61, is that right? Thanks, |
RE: Best Engine for Aresti by H9
Hi
I have an aresti with an OS 70 supass 4 stroke and believe me its all the power you need. The balance is perfect with the 70, vertical performance is almost unlimited and all manouvers can be done as large as you want. I have had both OS 70 and 91 four strokes and I like to have plenty of power in reserve but would say that a 91 is way too much. As for your friend with the warbird, the extra power with the 91 will help with that type of aircraft but you just don't need it with the Aresti. If you already have the engine, go ahead, put it in but be prepared to set your atv so you can only get 3/4 throttle otherwise you'll rip the wings off the thing. As regards the weight question i could'nt tell you and as regards the question about the thunder tiger engines I would recommend sticking woth the OS, as far as I am concerned there is no better quality four stroke angine than the OS. I have had my Aresti for about a year now, love lying the thing, fly it week in/week out. This plane along with the OS 70 I have is a great combination. I dont know if you have flown yours yet. If you have not I am sure you'll love it. Hope this helps Simon |

For this airplane there can be only one engine choice -- YS .63FZ!:D

RE: Best Engine for Aresti by H9
I agree with Galen!YS63

RE: Best Engine for Aresti by H9
I went a bit mild on mine and put a Saito 56 on it. I can tell you that the engine has plenty of power for a plane this size.
Of course I use the Aresti as my calm flyer. So I don't need an insane engine. For crazy flight I have a Funtana with a Saito .72 :) |
RE: Best Engine for Aresti by H9
Well I am glad to see you guys think the YS63 is the right engine for this plane as I have NIB plane, engine, and JR 811 digitals. just need to find the time to put her togerher. Looks like it should be a fun plane!

Webra .61 2 - stroke is the way to go. I have a friend that has the .61 in her and she will scream, plenty of power.

Elmer,
Did you use the provided aluminum mount for your OS70? I plan to put an OS70 on the Aresti I just bought. But on another thread, someone suggested using a Dave Brown nylon mount. Anyone know which Dave Brown mount fits the OS70? I didn't see the OS70 on the size chart provided with the mount. |

I'm in the process of putting mine together now. I am installing the Saito 72. I flew a friends last summer with the 72 and it rocked.
For this plane there is only one choice, Saito 72 baby all the way. |

I just started putting my Aresti together and was shocked to find that boat anchor of a mount! I am using a Sig glass filled tee mount # Sigemoo1 and it is about 1/4 the weight of the stock mount. |
RE: Best Engine for <span class=
Thanks Stomper. Shoot! (Striking my palm against my forehead!) I still have a Sig mount in my workshop (somewhere)! I haven't looked at the aluminum mount or firewall very closely yet. Did you have to reposition the blind nuts to accommodate the Sig mount?

I fly my Aresti with a Saito 72. Unlimited vertical! The 72 is all the power you need.

Two Stroke...definitely Webra .61 w/tuned pipe, turn 15500 rpms on a 11x7.5 prop. You wont be disappointed I promise. If going four stroke, ys 63..

ORIGINAL: Bruno Stachel Thanks Stomper. Shoot! (Striking my palm against my forehead!) I still have a Sig mount in my workshop (somewhere)! I haven't looked at the aluminum mount or firewall very closely yet. Did you have to reposition the blind nuts to accommodate the Sig mount? Yeah but no big deal there. Just measure between the existing blind nuts( horizontally ) both top and bottom to find center. Now draw a line between them and you should have a vertical line on the fire wall. now do the same thing top to bottom to get your horizontal center line. Put a screw in the blind nuts and tap them out. I took some wood dowel and filled the old holes glued in placed. Now clamp the engine on to both engine mounts ( if you are using a tee mount )and rest the back of the mount on a table and measure the space between the mounts. take that measurement and split in half. With the split number measure from your center line on your fire ( rember your center line will be off set, not dead center of fire wall ) wall and make a mark both top and bottom. This is where the mount will sit. Now align the center marks found on the sides of the mount with the center ( horizontal ) marks you made on the fire wall. Drill your new holes for the blind nuts and your good to go! HTH |
RE: Best Engine for <span class=
Thanks for the instructions Stomper. 'Really appreciate it.
I hear that OS now has a smaller FS-70, with a pump system, that is more compact and weighs 16 oz. |
RE: Best Engine for <span class=
I have a Saito 72 in mine. I burn 30% nitro fuel and it has more power than can be used. What a blast!

RE: Best Engine for <span class=
I just saw the Aresti at the LHS, really nice nice nice ... need some advice. I am comfortable flying a low wing sports now, am doing decent looking landings and can fly around comfortably inverted but not that I am doing all the heavy pattern/acrobatic stuff. You think the Aresti would be suitable for me to fly as an entry into pattern flying?
Would the plane be nice with a TT .61 2C? Anyone tried it with a .46 or a .50 sized 4C engine? I got a spare TT .61 and am not that keen to go out and get a nice little .72 4C. Thanks! |
RE: Best Engine for Aresti by H9
I'm running a YS 45 w/ pipe and APC 10x7. With this engine it has unlimited verical and is relatively fast. It's a great combination.
