All i want is to find plane kits / built up ARF
cant find any, foamy is beginning to really annoy me. Where to find kits ???? |
Instead of kits, which are hard to find, try building from plans. Plans come with all the patterns you'll need. There are hundreds of plans out there. I like to arrive at the field and have something different.
Pick something simple to start. |
I dont really want to make it to complex like cutting all parts needed as i am not equipped to do so, this is why im looking for full kits or built up ARF.

From my perspective, the worst part about plans is a lack of formed or molded parts such as cowls, pants and of course windshields/windows/canopies.
Yes, it can all be accomplished, but the complexity of a project easily gets to be too much to bother with and this is coming from someone who actually enjoys building. Since kits seem to have all but disappeared, the current scale kit project that I'm working on will probably be my last. |
Haven't been flying for a few years. I see the simfg website is still up. I put a Sig Wonder in the cart. Seemed ok. Are they actually shipping/selling?
|
Not sure what kit you are looking for but nearly every online retailer has an ARF section. The plane comes in several parts and you need to do a light build and add electronics.

eBay is certainly another place to find ALL sorts of unfinished / un-assembled balsa kits:

Have you looked at "short kits" vendors like:
The Balsa Workbench, The Balsa Workbench | Helpful hints for building balsa RC airplanes, by Rob Reynolds Eureka Aircraft, Eureka Aircraft Company Laser Design Services, Laser Design Services Lazer Works, Lazer Works - Engraving & Design These companies sell parts of the aircraft that I don't want to saw out. Like fuselage sides, some tail surfaces, fuselage formers, wing ribs, turtle deck formers. You have to have a good supply of balsa sheets, sticks, ply, etc. They might not supply the plans, but Outerzone has most anything that can be reprinted to full size plans. So far, I have bought from Balsa Workbench. |

Where to find kits ???? https://www.rcgroups.com/aircraft-fu...=For_Sale_def_ https://www.rcgroups.com/aircraft-el...lanes-fs-w-15/ I buy a steady supply with pretty good deals if I'm patient. I have more stashed now than what I could build in a lifetime. I don't have to scratch build unless I find something you can't get in a kit. https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=6505 |

This is a shame that actual, built up kits are hard to find now. I would have to assume the demand for builders kits is down, but I don't know why it would be? Makes me really feel bad now that I had to throw away an entire, unbuilt Great Planes Cub 60 kit. It was in storage for over a decade and I went to look at it and some sort of bugs ravaged it inside. Nearly all the wood was in powder or invaded by this bug. I do have a great planes, PT40 still in the box sealed. I was saving it for a rainy day
This sucks thogh, because I wanted to get back into airplanes with a ARF Foamy, but search for a wood kit to build this winter. Hmmm... This is disappointing |
Again, easy to find. Just fewer choices but a huge number exist from RC classifieds. You'll have to shop online from privately owned kits being sold on the classifieds. It's nothing new to me, been doing it since 2005. It's a lot more inexpensive that way over the years.

Graves RC is on Orlando, and they have a lot of kits in stock that are hard to find elsewhere. https://www.gravesrc.com/sig-kadet-lt25.html https://www.gravesrc.com/radio-contr...power=3813&p=4 I also get fuel here, dirt cheap. Call and talk to them, they have more than what is on the site. |
