What to do with my YS 63FZ

I crashed my UltraSport 40+ and the engine is being repaired and I am starting a search for a new plane to put it in, Would love to get another UltraSport but I am no position to build anything for a while so I need a good ARF to put it on. Not sure what type of flying I want to do so tell me what you people would do with this engine. And not interested in any stick type planes, I want something that will perform and look good doing it.

Thanx

Well, what kind of flying are you into? That .63 will have sufficient power for any 40-46 sized model. I personally like aerobats so something like a Great Planes Extra 300 or any of the Yellow Aircraft 45 sized aerobats. If you are into pattern, the World Models Zen 50 would be a perfect fit. If you are into 3d, I can think of a whole bunch of choices like:

Global Freestyle (the current home of my 63FZ)
Hangar 9 Funtana
Goldberg Extreme 330
Sportsman Aviation Hot knife
Giantscale Planes.com 40 series of Giles, Caps, and Extras
Kyosho Flip 3D
Great Planes UCANDO 3D 46
Seduction Freestyle
Lanier Razor
Global Magic Extra
Sportsman Aviation Simply Extra
Morris SuDukhoi (spelling?)

There are tons of choices in whatever category you can come up with. If I remember correctly, the ultra sport is more like a pattern ship than a sport plane. There are plenty more Pattern type planes from Kyosho (G Trick, Majestic) that would fill the bill. I mentioned World Models Zen 50. I hope I did not give you too much to think about!

Good Luck,

Baretta92:D

There are many ARFs in this size and many have already been listed... However, the World Models CAP 232 46 is not yet on the list.

Here is a picture of mine with a YS 63 before the cowling was mounted (and before I sold it... ).

I am running 3 x ys 63's at the moment.

Kyosho cap, Seduction freestyle and ZnLine Madnes. It is a very good power plant for all. The madness runs 14 x 4 W the seduction 13 x 6 to 13 x 4 w and the cap 13 x 6 or 12 x 7 depending on the wind conditions. I run 20% fuel, but recon that 30% is worth about another 1000rpm.

Cheers

Get the Flip man. It's the best 3D ARF for the YS 63.

I agree... Put it on a Funtana...

U-CAN-DO 46. This is a great all around plane. Lands slow and is 3D capable. The Funtana needs nose weight with the 63 in it. Think again about the profile series. They are a blast. I have the 53 on a CG Extreme 330 and its alot of fun. My 63 is planeless at the moment.(Crashed my Funtana[:o])

A lot of great choices so far, I really do like the Funtana but one of my flying buddies is getting one and we like to have different planes for each in our group and I am also looking at the U-CAN-DO 46 and something like the Venus but still not sure what I want... I wish they came out with a UltraSport 40+ ARF would get that in a heartbeat.. I miss mine sooooo much.

I've got a pair of YS .63 engines. One is on my WM Zen 50, the other one is on my DP Ultimate.

Perfect match for the Ultimate! It turns an APC 13x6 a happy 10K and hauls that little plane around with authority. Balanced perfectly with no extra weight needed at all - the rx and battery are mounted right on the CG.

Sucky match for the Zen 50! The Zen has such short landing gear and small wheels that no prop of more than 12" will fit. I also needed to add an extra 5 oz. of dea weight in order to balance it. An APC 12x7 turns up nicely, and flies the plane well, but if I remotor this thing I'd go to a 2C motor of similar or higher displacement and turn more RPMs. Too bad YS quit making their 2C .61!

I had similar experience with the World Model Ti Jai 40 as you with the Zen. It went ok, but if memory serves me I had to prop it down to get it to work properly, I think 11 x 7. As a pattern ship it was great. But for the more draggy KE stuff, it would do it ok but if you did any thing like KE snaps, ke rolls etc, it was very difficult to gain the speed back, even more so if you were a bit hard on the rudder.

Dude, I have a Morris The Knife ARF with my YS .63 on it. OH YEA it hovers at like 1/3 throttle. Plane is a dream to fly floats on a cloud in landings vertilcle into the clouds at 3/4 throttle. Does it all, probably way over powered due to the fact its scary flying it at full throttle. However makes 3D flying a blast. There's nothing you cant pull out of. GOOD LUCK

The Funtana needs nose weight with the 63 in it.
Really? Even with the battery under the fuel tank?

Another good airplane is the Cermark Banchee G3D. I have one which I'm installing a YS63S in it at present, had a OS70 Ultimate and it flew it great, very acrobatic, lands like a dream. I also flew it with a Irvine 39 and it flew great but I'm going back to a 4 stroke in it. I took the OS 70 out because there was problem with them overheating.

Hanger 9 Aresti is a great plane for the YS 63. I also have one in a H9 Cap 232 that was out a few years ago.

The 63 powers the Great Planes Champman Cap very well.

And it fits completely under the cowl, muffler and all!!!

Check the pics...

The funtana 40 is also a good choice..
