I saw this plane at the hobby visions show in las vegas a few weeks ago. It has a 80 inch wingspan and split flaps. The retracts operate outward like the real plane. Will be availiable by the first of the year.

OK. I will pass now. I got all excited that we might be getting a closer to scale representation of maybe a Mark I. or something. This is just a copy of the smaller Spitfire they do.

This looks really cool but another guy had problems with retracts included in an ARF. Seems that they were a little weak for 60 sized plane....can you imagine that happening? (of course).

The .60 size WM Spitfire comes with heavy duty landing gear wires (close to 3/16" in diameter). I had well over 100 flights on mine and did not encounter a single problem with the retracts, even from a grass runway. If you settle the plane down gently onto the runway, then you will never have problem.

The WM GS Spitfire is a scale representation of the Mk. XIVc Spitfire owned by Bob Pond:

I know that, but out of the many many versions of the Spitfire, I would think one of the more mainstream models would have been a better choice to represent. Plus the canopy on the model looks wierd compared to the full scale. It just doesn't look right.

January MAN out already? It's only November, I can't wait for next years xmas issue in July :D

As for the model, we discussed this at great length when the .40 size came out. It seems that this is a hybrid that used to fly in the airshows in the UK back in the 80's. At least the UK owner had the good sense to paint in a civil colour scheme (with the registration G-FIRE). It's a shame they didn't chose a different subject this time....

Seen the GS WM Spit at the Chicago Hobby Show. It does look exactly like the .60 size with one big exception, it has wing fairings! It also has split flaps as was already mentioned. I was told at the show that the selling price would be $499.

I agree, somthing doesn't look right about the canopy. I would have liked to see an earlier model.

The canopy is that of a MK-4 (bubble), I have the 60 size with a ST-90 inverted and the gear works great but the plane gets REAL mushy with flaps down.
Before I think about getting the big one I'm going to wait and see what the next Top Flit GS ARF is going to be.
