4*60 ARF wing servo problem
I'm having a problem putting the servos in the wing of a 4*60 ARF; both strings broke!
I think maybe they were glued inside. I have tried a weighted string from both ends, but can't seem to get thru. I can see a tube in the hole near the root rib but can find where it joins the servo hole. It looks like the tube is about 2" forward of the servo cutout. how can I fix this without cutting the covering? Thanks! :D |
RE: 4*60 ARF wing servo problem
Keep fishing. I had the same problem on another wing, not with my 4*60 wing. It took me about 2.5 hours to get the servo wire/entensions through. I used some fishing line with a small fishing weight at the end. Keep at it, you'll probably get fustraited beyond belief, but in the end, it'll be worth it. Good luck.

Cruzo speaks truth. Never give up. You wouldn't belive the things you can pull off when you persist. I've had a few situations like that too. Always pulled it off.

Yes, I think most of us have "been there, done that".
This will definately try your patience, so keep all heavy "smashing" type objects (hammers) out of arms reach! ;) Good luck! Gary |
RE: 4*60 ARF wing servo problem
Get a section of inner Nyrod and fish it through the holes, from the root to the servo opening.
Tape the servo extension to one end and carefully pull the whole thing through. |
RE: 4*60 ARF wing servo problem
I saw a post here on RCU that suggested using a light chain like an old bath tub chain. Sounds like a good idea.
Good luck. |
RE: 4*60 ARF wing servo problem
You might try a cotton-ball with a long string in the end of the tube, that you can see, at the root rib, then gently use your shop vac to suck it thru to the servo opening..
If it works you did it right , if it collapses the wing you were not gentle enough. Fred B |
RE: 4*60 ARF wing servo problem
Fred that just might work even thought it sounds a little strange. I would make the cotton ball smaller than the hole size and attach a vary light string, the lighter the better.

RE: 4*60 ARF wing servo problem
Take a piece of string or a fishing line and tie a small weight to the end - like a fishing weight (worm weights work great cause they're bullet shaped).
Drop the weight in at the servo hole and rotate the wing around while looking down the tube the extension comes out. When it's out in the tube stand the wing upright and the string will fall out at the root. My 4* didn't have any strings and this method took all of about 1 minute to run a new "chase" thru so I could pull the servo leads out. |
