CG FOR UCD .60
 

Hi All,

I'm sorta new to planes and need some advise from you folks that have the experience

The assembly manual calls for the CG 4" 7/8" back from the lead edge. Can I set the CG at 5" 1/2 to 6" without any handling problems or will have have to land hot to compensate for the CG being shifted aft. Will the flight characteristics change a bunch by shifting the CG back?

i'm flying mine at 6/1/8 inch back an aft cg will do the opsite of what you ask it will try to slow its self down by droping the tail at slow speed if you put the cg were mine is get ready for a wild ride the only time i'm in a strait lin is when in taxeing out to take off on the groundtry 5/1/2 back 0 your new to planes put the cg were the book says you didnt say what engine your running but the a good flying plane i have a satio 150 on mine and it works good and when you get ready to put the cg back farther than 5/3/4 you will need a lot of weight i have a 2700 battry touching my elevator servos my slab is i think its a peace of panling i know its heavy if your just wanting to fly around and hover some 5/3/4 is fareback mine climes like crazzy inverted :D

I put the CG at 5 1/2, mine does really good in all aspects of 3D that a 3D can do. Slows down nicely, hangs on a a prop etc etc. If you are new to flyig and this is your second plane or so, Then put the CG at 5 and get to know the plane and how it responds..then move it back and let-r-rip. But you'll still be able to rip it up fine at 5 inches...youll just get to the point where you'll want to move it further and further back.

I'm running a YS FZ110 with a 17X5 prop. I should be doing my first flight this weekend if all goes well.

I still haven't decided if I'm going to install the fuel tank in the center of the fuse over the wing? I'll make that decision after I do a mock up with the tank behind the firewall and see what happens with the CG.

If anyone has any other comments about CG it will be appreciated.
