Anyone done something other than gluing? nylon bolts? rubber bands?

Thanks

I looked a little closer at mine after I read your post. I think you would be making a mistake trying to change this plane. For one thing all the servos are mounted in the wing. Plus once the AILE are attached the wing wont slide out. Cutting a wing saddle in the bottem of the fuse would weaken it to much. And I think the wing is a lot of the fuse strength to start with. If you want a plane that transports and store easyer look at the Sig Something Extra.
It is a little heavyer and wont knife edge as well but other than that it flyes about the same. The wings on it are mounted on a tube and slide on and off with ease. The ARF and kit are both great planes and respond well to Saito .72 power. later daveo

Thanks daveo,

I will build it per the instructions, just thought there might be an alternative. I also have a Sig SE, and really like it. A couple pages of my instructions were missing, what is the CG on this one? also did you just mount the tank up front under the hatch? there doesn't seem to be a pocket built for it.

Thanks.

Page 35 of the book recomends the CG range as....3.25 to 3.75 inches back from the leading edge. Thats a good place to start but i like mine at 4". My tank is under the cover but pushed back against the notch in the center of the wing as high as it will go. With less than a half a tank a real tight loop will kill the engine.later daveo

Daveo,

You know your stuff when it comes to tweakin' out a Pizazz. I'm glad you said something about the stock gear and running it backwards. Yesterday, I broke my carbon fiber gear on a belly-flop from hover. I put the stock gear on it and put it backward. I cut the axle holes off, ground off the sharp edges and drilled 4mm holes. I mounted the wheels with 4-40mm bolts, washers and nuts. That should save weight all the way around. I checked the CG and it's about 1/4"-1/2" back from where it was. I wanted to move the CG anyhow. 4"-4 1/2" seems to give me the performance I want. Luckily, I still had a US 40 with a ST 51 with an MCP and a PBF to play with for the rest of the day.

Do you know anything about Modeltech's Magic? I have one in the box and a Webra 40 with mini-tuned pipe ready to all go together.

Thanks for the attaboy. I dont know anything about the Magic. You will love that Webra.
FRREBIRD? Do you need the recomended control throws off that same page?

Sure, go ahead and give me the specs on the throws, I usually start out low and work my way up. I like the set-up of the SE way better than the Pizazz, there's not a lot of room to get the servos in the bottom and snake everything through, the gluing of the wing was also a drag, mine had gaps in the top the glue did'nt even come in contact with, which makes me a bit concerned how airworthy this thing will be. The stock landing gear is also freakish with its high stance. Needless to say, I'm not real happy with this plane, along with the missing instruction pages, the slot for the horz. stab was too small and it did not fit without some surgery. I was debating on an electric 3D plane when I bought this set-up with the Saito .72, and probably should have.

Thanks.

I had the same problem with the wing saddle. I just filled it with microballons. As far as the gear with a 13" prop on that Saito you need every bit of ground clearance you can get. The rest of what you are dealing with is typical ARF. Anyway below is their recomended throws and such.
AILE 5/8"up&down on low with 35% expo 2" on high with 45% expo.
ELEV 1.5" on low with 30% expo 2.5" on high with 70% expo
Rudder 2.35" low with 25% expo 3.25" high with 40% expo.
I have mine as follows. My radio dosn't have expo or duel rates on the rudder.
AILE low 5/8"-20% expo high 1" 35% expo.
ELEV low 7/8"-10% expo high 1.5"-25% expo.
Rudder 2.5" no expo.
The settings they give are for 3-D flying. It's not much fun to just fly around with their recomended throws. I like to do a little of both so my low rates are more tame. Be carfull using a lot of expo on ELEV.It can be tricky to land
with 30% like they recomend. Dont get discouraged, this is a great plane to fly. Slide that Saito back as far as you can on the mount. My tank hatch is nothed to clear the intake tube.Put the battery and rec on top of the wing and run the gear backwards. I got mine to balance with no lead.I also used Dave Brown fiberglass pushrods instead of the supplied dowel rods. Sorry to ramble on. Hope this helps. later daveo

Thanks for all the info, believe it or not I've had a few great assembling ARF's. I'll try and get the thing flying as best I can. The main reason I got this one was the light wingloading, and to have a larger 3D plane, I have a few smaller brushless electrics with this capability and it's a blast. I should've done a better search around here, there were a few other posts that claimed the plane did'nt fly well? I'll keep plugging away at it.
