Hey guys, anybody flying one of these? Almost ready to try mine out using a magnum 28. Any feedback on these things would be great, how it flies, bad habits etc.

Of what Ive read this plane is everything but squirrely. Everyone says it flies like a 40size plane.

I have had one of these for a couple of seasons now. I run a 46fx in it. It will do every thing you can think of and still slow right down to a walk when landing. We just started pylon racing at our field. Guess what plane I brought? My engine finally wore out, it will have to be replaced, That just shows you how many flights I have on this plane, and I still bring it with me everytime I go to the field.These are built very tough also. I have hit the ground quite hard several times, just had to do minor repairs. My only complaints are the weak landing gear and plastic part of the upper fuselage. I would strongly recomend re enforcing the inside of your wheel pants where it attached to the gear. Otherwise thy will crack and break in no time.

Guys, check out some of the threads from a while back discussing this plane. I've got (had) one of these that I flew with an os32 sx/macs pipe combo and it was unbelieveable. I had my cg wayyy back for climbing flat spins. As Steven H said, with a 9.5/6 APC prop I could run pattern with it, or change it to an 11/4 or 11/3 APCs and have unlimited vertical. I glassed the wing joint, and used tail wires to brace it. I also carved a foam belly pan for it, to replace the plastic belly pan. I also replaced the plastic top sheeting with balsa after I split it (inverted spin into the ground)

It's still hanging up in my garage awaiting repairs after I tore the gear out from under it on a stalled landing (I guess I should say I was attempting a harrier landing, sounds cooler :).LOLOL) It ripped the former away with the gear block.

It does land fast, and with it being a small plane is extremely responsive, yet kinda squirrely on landing.

I love that plane, and am tempted to get another one, because they fly soo good. The oooh and ahhhh factor is there when you are full throttle, pull up on a 45, and bang the sticks full over on high rates, and can only count the last two cartwheels because the first 2-3 were too fast. :)

I have enjoyed the 12 flights on this bullet. Seems to hold up with my 36 pro thunder tiger which turns 14000 rpm's using a 10x5 apc. Vertical snaps are a wonderful thing! Can't go wrong!

For about $30 more you can get a Fun-Key 30 sized aerobat from Yellow Aircraft. I've seen several 60 and 120 sized Fun-Key aircraft (in fact I'm saving my pennies for a Cap 232 60 size), and if the quality of the 30 is anywhere close to the larger models, personally I would spend the extra $30...

Hey Guys
Got about 1/2 flight on this thing & dead stik! Took it back to the "hanger" to do a little trimming on the cowl for more air to the carb. What little I did fly seemed to be great! Plane seemed very smooth & went where it was pointed. Didnt get to try any fun stuff but it floated in very nicely as long as I kept the nose down. Flared a little to quick on landing and almost stalled but it recovered very nicely. Going back to the field today and see how things go. Thanks Guys for your info & I'll report how it does when the engine holds up after good breakin period & I "turn it loose"

He Guys, This thing is a hoot! I did end up doing away with the mag.28 ( not enough Wheaties for me) & going with an OS 40 LA that I had laying around & what a difference. Unlimited vertical, awesome speed w/ some ultra violent snap rolls. One thing it does not like is a lot of wind! My second flight I took off w/ almost no wind then it picked up to probably 15 mph. In these conditions with this small of a plane, believe me, the tail will almost pass the nose! Got it on the ground safely & alls well. Badge if your interested in one of these I say its great. A couple of things you might want to consider though is if you like speed you might want to go a little bigger than the 32. The 40 I put on didn't change the CG much at all but I did have to use bigger tires to get the10/6 prop to clear the grass. During some of those great snap rolls the rear servo tray that holds the elevator & rudder servos came loose, You might want to add a little extra glue there. Other than that, no complaint's.
P.S. Anybody want a new Magnum .28 with about 3 tanks ran through it?

Want some more vertical? Try an APC 11/3 or 11/4 on yours. I was running mine on an os32/macs pipe combo with everything from a 9.5/6 APC (little red blur across the sky) to a 10/5 APC and then onto an 11/4 or 11/3 combo. It really slows the plane down at idle, and the vertical is phenominal.

Have you ever seen a better tumbling plane? You might want to add some wires to the tail to stiffen it up some, given the loading on it.

Hey Steve, I wanted to go a little bigger on the prop but our field isnt "perfect" if you know what I mean & with out putting monster tires on this thing props wont last long. On 40 size planes & up we have no problem. You are right this little rocket tumbles at almost no effort and spins are a bluuuuuur & whats great about it is for a plane this agile & small I have had NO problems getting it to recover from anything - yet -. I havent tried a flat spin & dont know if I should. I am a little nose heavy so it might come out of one. Have you tried it?
Also I like the tag in your pic! I to am from NC Where are you located? I'm in the small town of Clyde just west of Asheville.

I am in Greensboro, apparently 70 miles from everywhere (Charlotte, Raleigh, etc). That is my real NC liscence plate. I was over in Boone this weekend, tooling down the Blue Ridge.
I ran 2 or 2 1/4 inch tires on mine, and flew off a rough grass field with very few problems. I think I only had one prop strike with it with the 11 inch prop.


Be very careful doing the spins, because that caused me to reinvent the plane after it piled in. :D Was able to take allllllll the plastic off it and rebuilt it about 4-6 oz lighter. Mine ended up about 3 3/4 lbs after that. It will do an amazing inverted flat/knifedge/back to flat spin, but it WILL take quite a bit of altitude to recover. Mine would even climb while spinning inverted if I kept on the sticks fast enough.

Mine is a hangar queen right now, while I try to decide if I want to cut two new formers where they tore out along with the landing gear ply on a harrier landing (at least thats what the landing looked like until the motor flamed out :)). I tore out the bottom half of the former where the wing dowels slot, and it took out a bunch of wood with it (no quick thin C/A repair there). I've been too busy flying to repair it, but will get it up again sometime......
