Magic 3D advice

I know this has been discussed in this forum before, but what engine should I use on a Magic 3D? I have a TSI .46 available (a REAL powerhouse!) or an O.S. 32sx. I know the Magic will fly with a .32sx, but I have also heard of many guys putting .46's on their Magics. What do you think? Anyone flying their Magic with a .32? How's it perform? I definately want to hover this puppy right down to the ground so the .46 makes sense for the extra power, but I also have heard that the Magic should be kept as light as possible so the .32 would fit the bill. What should I do?

I have an OS46FX on mine. Hovers easily (although, I haven't perfected it, yet). I don't know the difference between the .32 and 46, but I do know that I just got my Mac's pipe for my 46FX today.... and it's going on the Magic!

More power!

Magic Power

I had a Rossi .45 on mine, and now have a .32sx that should answer your question. Of course the .32 doesn't pull the thing up like a rocket but it has enough to pull out of any bad hover situation. I couldn't really hover very well with the Rossi. I had to hover at about 1/3 throttle and it was "off the Pipe". Very sluggish down low.

Put the 46 in it. I have a Magic with a TT 36 pro in it and it was't enough power to pull out of a torque roll fast enough. Also I think a lot of people on the internet lie about the weight of their planes.I used mini servos and built it as light as I could and mine weighed 4 pounds 2 oz weighed on baby scales that I check with a 5 pound dumbell weight every time I weigh anything.

.32 power

I have a magic with a webra .32 turns an APC 10x4 at 15.8K. Weight is 4 lbs 1 oz.
I'm very happy with the combo. I think a .46 is over kill and moves the cg too far forward that requires dead weight abbed to the tail.

I agree with a Webra (the new .35), or the OS .32 SX would fly this thing like a bat out of XXXX!

I had a Webra .32 on mine and it pulled out of any hover with authority with the standard muffler.

Since the Webra engine weighs 10 oz, I save the heaver .46 and the weight on the tail. My plane weighed 3.5 puonds on a digital industrial scale.

The plane was WAY too much fun to be legal. Can't believe I let a guy talk me into selling it!

OS 50

I have an OS 50 with a Mac header and pipe on mine turning a 12X4 wood prop at right at 16000rpm on the ground. It will hold a hover ant about 1/3 power. This give plenty of power left to get out of trouble. Most of the guys that I fly with a running OS 46 with pipes with 11X4 props at right at 16000rpm on the ground having good luck. We moved our bat. back behind the servos and then I made mine a little tail heavy with a full tank of fuel get all the movement you can get on all surfaces and use the Ele to Fla mix maxed out and she will hover like crazy!!!!!!!!!

Nothing like a little extra power when you need it.
