GP Wagstaff Extra or GP Christen Eagle

I am considering either the GP Wagstaff Extra or GP Christen Eagle as my next airplane. Both have good comments on this site, although the Eagle has some comments on ground looping. Which of these planes is the better choice for someone who is presently flying an UltraStick 40 which is my third plane?

I have had the Pitts which is the same as the eagle. I now have the extra. In my opinion I would get the extra. Especially if you have never flown a biplane before. The flight characteristics aren't bad but it lands like a high-drag short-coupled biplane. The patty is a pleasure to fly, It's a real kitten in the air and on the ground. I fly mine with an fpe 3.2 and I love it. Good luck on which ever one you choose.

I too, have owned the PW and the Pitts-The PW Extra is a spectacular plane with a Taurus 2.6. The Pitts with a Taurus 3.2 is a super combo, but not for the novice-- not saying you are, but in the proper order come
1-trainer
2-intermediate
3-GP Wagstaff
4-Pitts
5-Airplanes that cost $3000 or more

I have flown a Biplane and I will say that they do fly and handle different. I would recommend the Extra (which I have) as a first plane. I would recommend a 50cc engine as the engine of choice.

Get The bipe real arplaines have two wings and radial engines.Well one of two aint bad. They fly great, if you can handle a tail dragger, sport type airplane, with a wing loading higher than a trainer you'll be fine.I think they fly better than a mono wing plus there so good looking. If you want a smaller bipe go with the C.G Ultimate.Great starter bipe.

Aw heck, just get them both. Get the Patty Flying first, then when your ready for the Eagle it will be ready to go!
