Hanger 9 Extra 330s
Getting this plane for Xmas. Don`t plan on doing any 3-D flying just sport.
Do you think a G-62 will be enough for this plane or should I think about a larger engine. |
RE: Hanger 9 Extra 330s
I just ordered one too, suppose to be here Thursday. I got a ZDZ 80 for mine. The people I talked to said it is lighter and a little more user friendly with a slight bit of more power over the Zenoah.

I'm doing one with a G-62, and describing it as an "entry level IMAC model". So far, 23 pounds without the muffler. Using Hitec 5945 servos (overkill, but I had them here) Nothing "extra" added, probably not even a real pilot figure. Should be a fine flyer.

Lee R.,
While the G-62 will fly this plane in circles, the vertical performance will suffer greatly. 3D is not the only reason to have plenty of horsepower under the hood. A lot of IMAC maneuvers require plenty of thrust for good vertical performance. If you don't already have the G-62, I would seriously suggest choosing an engine with more power. The ZDZ80 single is a great choice for any SA plane up to about 25 lbs. It has almost twice the HP of the G-62 and weighs about the same. This plane is a big investment any way you cut it, IMO you might as well do it up so you won't be disappointed with it down the road. :D |

How did the plane balance out any weight needed

Here's a thread with a lot of info on the 330S.

I totally agree with Stick Jammer. It is better to overdo it a little that to underdo it and have to go back and spend more money fixing it.
