H9 Cap 232 & 3W-24. Good combo ?

Hi Guys,

I have a 3W-24 and looking at the 25% H9 Cap. What are your thoughts on this as a great combo ?

I see there are many, many views between Glow Vs Gas for this ship. However, appears to be little 3W experience.

Many thanks in advance.

The 24i is a nice engine. I have two of them and the one on my 1/4 scale has not power getting into the air and has limited vertical. It will hover the plane for a while, but will eventually fall out. More than enough to fly scale aerobatics.

This plane would make you much happier with one of these engines.....

BME44 or BME50 (these are my personal favs on this plane)
TAURUS42 or 52 slightly heavier than the BME's
ZDZ40 again heavier than the BME44 same as the 50

The New 3W and DA 50 engines are high dollar paper weights compared to the others. 3W and DA are EXCELLENT engines, but they just don't have what it takes to be competitve in this size range. They are too heavy and just do not produce the thrust to weight ratio like those above.

Thanks Jeff,

I have read your a BME fan. My next step is into the 40cc class and the various discussions (including yours) will guide me with a correct choice.

I suffered from the to small / no growth fate of buying a 24cc Gasser and need a home for it ! Hence the question re what sort of perfromance I could expect from a Hp 25% Cap and the 3w-24.

I have sort of summised that its a little stronger than the MVVS 1.60 petrol which doesn't seem to provide bad in the way of performance. However, suffers in vertical performave.

If I was to buy a gasser today, i'd start with a good light 40 cc and work up !!!

Heinsight..........

Again, many thanks.

I did it

I had a 3W-24 on a Cap 232. Performance was on par with a Saito 1.50, no 3D and very limited vertical. My weight was 13.5 lbs using dual receivers and duralite packs,TNT landing gear, and Kletz tail gear. Don' t make mistake of putting dual elevator servos in the tail, the 3W is very light and I ended up adding lead to the nose.
