GP Christen Eagle & Moki 1.8
???? Will it fly it ok, or will it barely fly???? I have a Moki 1.8, but not quite enough moolah for the 2.10 right now :( Any suggestions???? I have the modelsport magazine vid of the GP Pitts, and he said the os 1.60fx would have been a good match, similar to the FT300 or 320... Any suggestions :)
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

A fellow at our field flies the G.P. 1/3-scale Pitts with an O.S. 108 believe it or not. It flies fine, but does require a high throttle setting most of the time. It's not a 3d machine, but it will perform IMAC type aerobatics without much fuss. Good luck!

RE: GP Christen Eagle & Moki 1.8
I flew a friend's WM 80" Zero that weighed 17lbs with an OS 1.60 and it hauled that plane around with very good authority. The Moki 1.8 would actually be a very good match for the GP Eagle. Somewhere in the midst of the current 3D craze we've forgotten that airplanes can actually fly quite well on their wings! Also since you'll be at an all-in weight at least 2 lbs less than the planes equipped with heavy gas engines like the G62 or Fuji52, you'll need less power in order to get good performance.

How did he balance that Pitts w/ the 108? |
RE: GP Christen Eagle & Moki 1.8
My buddy has a GP Pitts with an OS 160...I have flown it. It has OK power. I'd say it flies scale. The Mokie should make a bit more power. It sure won't 3-D but should be just OK for sport flying with that engine.
Good Luck B- |
RE: GP Christen Eagle & Moki 1.8
You should be fine with the Moki, its a powerhouse. Besides, some people have flown the Pitts with a 1.60, so there should be no problem. You should be able to do 3-D maneuvers, but don't expect to prop hang at 1/2 throttle :D:D
Get it fixed up and enjoy. I have to suffer waiting for mine to arrive[:o] |

RE: GP Christen Eagle & Moki 1.8
Sooo.. I should be all set with a Moki 1.8 ??? I just want something that can fly really nicely, pull off a large loop from level flight, and act a lot like the full scale ship. Not wanting an eagle to do 3d since the real one really doesn't.... Any more suggestions? How about props for the moki 1.8????

Moki 180 will do a fine job on that airplane. I fly my Ultimate with a 180 and a Bambula 18/10 prop. At 16 lbs it has plenty of power.

I fly my GP PW Extra with a Moki 1.8 and an 18 X 8 Pro Zinger prop. It is a good combination with power to spare.

RE: GP Christen Eagle & Moki 1.8
Were flying the 1/3 scale Pitts on a OS3500 and it pulls it fine.I'm flying a Byron Eagle thats been trashed several times and wieghs god knows what on a Moki 1.8 and it pulls that on a Power Point 18-6-10.I just ordered a GP Eagel and am going to put the Moki in that.It will fly it fine. Were at almost 3700 ft. If your closer to sea level it will be even better. It won't hover or 3D but if you want that get a chopper
