So many to choose from!!!

Hey all,

I am thinking of getting into RC Flying. I dont know if I'll like it, so I am wondering if a RTF kit is right for me, and if so, which one. I've NEVER Rc'd before so it's safe to say that something is gonna crash. I would appreciate any input you guys might have.

Thanks
Ken

What's your budget to start ?

My standard reply is the Hobbico Avistar RTF.

Ignore my edit then.
Look at the Aerobird or a Soarstar

Man this is such a loaded question I'm fighting to keep my words to a minimum here. I would start with this...

Then if you like it keep upgrading to more and more involved aircraft. That's what I'd do. Start with toys. If you enjoy the toys, then you can get the four channel or higher RC planes. It will save you lots of money to do it this way, especially if you're not sure you'll stick with it...used rc stuff does not sell for much.

Joe

P.S. The only problem with the cheaper "toy" electric planes is that any wind above 5 mph and you can't fly. The bigger RC planes can fly in up to 30 mph winds (or more if you're really good and have a powerful engine).

Not familiar with that one but looks as though the price is right with all the extras.

I really appreciate all your help regarding this. It's something that I've been toying with (no pun intended). However, there is just so much stuff out there. I was thoroughly dissapointed with the RTF outta the box setup from walmart. It was horrible. I charged it as specified and only flew for 2 minutes. It was useless.

Thanks again

Ken

camoken,
Just keep in mind that they way these cheaper-type of planes fly isn't really reflective of the way that the larger, glow-powered models fly....while you have "some" control over the cheaper ones, you have complete control over the more expensive glow powered planes.
What I'm trying to say is, you might find that you don't like the cheaper electric stuff.....but you may love the glow-powered planes. I would advise you to find a local club.....many of them have "club trainers" that you can try your hand at.
