GP Christian Eagle Video
As promised in another thread, here's some video of my CE.
Specs: Great Planes Christian Eagle, 1/4 scale, 68.5" ws Engine: 50cc Poulan Pro, C&H ignition Weight: Just under 16 lbs. Radio: 7 channels, Futaba 8U., Hitec servos. Field: Newton County R/C, Covington, GA A buddy of mine took the video (so blame him for the curious choice of music.) THis is part of a long video (110 meg) from the day. I decompressed it, cropped the CE section and recompressed. Quality is not that great due to multiple compressions, but useable. Also, he seemed to either be zoomed too close or too far for my liking. On the video is two flights. Both ended in a dead-stick landing. The poulan is off of my crashed Super Sportster bipe, and something is not right with the carb. I had replaced a warn butterfly, but more is needed (rebuild kit on order.) First flight engine quit while doing slow flight at about 60'. Second died at top of hammerhead. Both landings were uneventful. Video is 11mb and compressed using the Divix encoder. My QT player will not play it, but my WM and Real players work fine. [link=http://shdesigns.home.mindspring.com/GP-ChEagle.avi]GP Christian Eagle Video[/link] Edit: Micosoft MPEG version, 9.6 meg. [link=http://home.earthlink.net/~elshdesigns/GP-ChEagle128k.avi]128k MS Mpeg version[/link] Still have more work, apply decals, wheel pants, finish cockpit (crash test dummy is waiting to fly this plane). Right now having too much fun flying. Note, radio has no mixes programmed in. As you can see, kife edges are not difficult (a little cross aileron and down elevator.) I will probably add some aileron differential to reduce yaw. And one more thing this plane definitely needs: SMOKE!!! Enjoy, Scott. |

ORIGINAL: xtraflyr Oh Man!!!! My Realplayer can't show the picture,I got audio but no video!!![:@] Later Frank You'll need to download the Divix codec for it to work. Btw, I can not be held responsible for the dent in your wallet after seeing the video ;) ( I'll take a sales commision though) |
RE: GP Christian Eagle Video
Windows Media Player can only get audio on the first tone but the second one works. Yeah I too was always wishing you'd fly closer or that he would zoom in. Camara man is not an easy job I guess. If he always knew what you were going to do and where you were going it might be easier. Also I suppose that when you zoom in it's easy to lose site of the plane.
It was cool to watch. Thanks for the vid. Joe |
RE: GP Christian Eagle Video

Dude you got to get that deadstick thing fixed!!! Your gonna bust up something.. Seems like it would have awesome vert.!!!! Thanks, Frank |

ORIGINAL: xtraflyr Thanks for the video,I downloaded the new version of realplayer and it worked!!! Dude you got to get that deadstick thing fixed!!! Your gonna bust up something.. Seems like it would have awesome vert.!!!! Thanks, Frank The video did not show the second takeoff. Roll 25' then straight up with 360 degree roll, then level off. Not unlimited vertical, but close. Will hover at 90% throttle, so not much reserve. I will try a 22x8 prop next, should give more pull. I'm looking at getting the stock carb fixed. It is the same size as the #144 I put on it, but it has a choke. Starting is hard as the carb does not want to prime and the engine likes to start wet. Funny it will idle all day on the ground. Only in the air it has problems. I may need to add a remote intake for the carb pressure vent, maybe when in air it is getting confused by the cowl. Before the crash on the old SS bipe, I had the opposite problem, I could not get it to shut off with the throttle. Now It will still not shut off, but quits on fast throttle down to idle. Will rebuild both carbs then see what happens. |

LOL read this:
We're sending you this message because your free Web page has temporarily gone offline. This has happened because your page exceeded its monthly data transfer quota of one gigabyte (1GB). You should have received a previous message about this issue letting you know that your Web site's data transfer rate had reached 80% of its monthly quota. Thanks to the power of RCU, my web space was killed in only 3 days. Oh, well no big deal. I have my own server on ADSL, but it is only 256kbit/sec up. Here's the video links: [link=http://shdesigns.org/files/GP-ChEagle.avi]GP CE Video, Divix AVI format[/link] [link=http://shdesigns.org/files/GP-ChEagle128k.avi]GP CE Video, MS MPEG format.[/link] The second one is a bit smaller at, 9.4 megs. Fastest download would be about 7 minutes. If anyone has bandwith available to keep these, let be know. Scott, |
