Prop for Magic
 

I am looking for suggestions for a starting point prop choice for my Magic. I am running a Thunder Tiger GP-42 on it.

Try an APC 11.5-4. If the LHS doesn't have one, try an 11-4, that engine can easily turn both of these props.

I've tried both of these on a fun fly with an OS 40FP and they worked great. I ended up using the 11.5-4.

I have a Magic Fun-Fly. I too have a TT 42 GP. Excellent weight to power engine for this plane. As others have said an 11x4 should be good. I run a 12x4 on mine and it does fine, turns about 11k with stock muffler. A towerhobbies, macs, or mousse can muffler would be better with a 12x4 or 12.25x3.75 prop. The 11 inch propeller will give you more rpm resolution with the throttle so you can fly high aoa / vertical maneuvers with a little less lead time needed to think ahead of the plane. I have not tested low speed / stall speed control authority with the 11 inch prop vs 12in yet but you should be fine with the 11, certainly at least to start out getting the feel for the plane with. I have used wood props only thus far due to weight and spool up benefits, your mileage may vary :) Have fun!
