Sukhoi's-- Phoenix vs Vector Flight
Looking for a smaller sized Sukhoi for weekend flying. Would like something that has good aerobatics and respectable top-end speed. If anyone has experience the two would appreciate a comparison.

RE: Sukhoi's-- Phoenix vs Vector Flight
I have the pheonix, it likes speed. Nice with a YS 63. A bit heavy but not difficult to handle . Typical ARF hardware, tossed it. Flying... Point and shoot. A strong plane. It has a a removable one piece wing, a heavy ( strong) glass cowl and a balsa pan.
I have a vectorflight 66" edge. nice build and as far as i can tell lighter as well. sheeted foam wings, good american hardware. I have not flown it yet. By reputation it is very sensitive to control inputs. It has a flexible lightweight cowl and belly pan. A considirable effort was made to keep it light. They are both nice. I got my sukhoi for 79$ so its my favorite. They are both very good. For the extra money you do get better hardware, and strong foam wing with VF. You can buy individual VF parts. Tough choice. |

avngr1,
Where did you buy your Sukoi for $79 ? Thanks |

Tower had a big sale on them a while back and sold out fast and I missed out, Plan to get there giles, I'm not sure why you are comparing these to VF because those are 60 size at VF I think you where thinking of the Yellow aircraft with a FK on the box, They have a Sukoi about the same size as pheonix but they classify it as a 30 size.

RE: Sukhoi's-- Phoenix vs Vector Flight
Just ordered a Vector Flight Sukhoi today, plan on putting a Enya 90 4-stroke in it. I was looking at this plane as well as the Phoenix Sukhoi as just a weekend flyer to rip-up with. I liked the idea of the Phoenix for transportation, taking more than two planes to the field in a little Honda gets kinda cramped. I chose the Vector Flight for several reasons, it appears that everyone here at RCU likes Vector Flight aircraft, because of economies, I have the Enya and have never used it yet, and I hope the bigger plane flys better.

I actually ordered one a few days ago, A friend has the VF extra 66" and it is very well made so I got the Sukhoi to put my Magnum 91 4-stroke in, can't wait to get it.

RE: Sukhoi's-- Phoenix vs Vector Flight
thi is a no brainer for me, I would say the VF!!
VF planes are built better and are lighter. The Phoenix's are nice for a tool around plane but are pigs as far as weight is considered. Just a thought and $0.02 good luck |
RE: Sukhoi's-- Phoenix vs Vector Flight
I have a VF Sukhoi with a O.S. 91 4 stroke. I would get this plane again if something should happen to this one.
