chip hydes double vision bipe

i have preordered the dv bipe and wanted some different opions. I WAS THINKING ABOUT USING hitec programable servos and in the wings y harness the 2 left wing servos and y harnessing the 2 right wing servos. my thought is to still use the same 2 channels ibn the reciever 1 and 5 but wasnt sure if this is the best way to do it. i am using the futube 9cap radio. this will be my first plane of this size with this complicated of a setup. any advise you guys have would be greatly appreciated

use the best servo you have or can afford and you will love life.

i am looking at jr 8411 or hitec 5645 and i have about 6 of each lying around i am not sure what he calls for as they will help to sway you one way or another what powerplant are you looking at i have a zdz 40 on a can and a brison 3.2 so those are my choices

I pre-ordered one myself. I'm going with 8411s in the ailerons and 8611s for the rudder and elevators. The DA50 is my choice of motors. However, I can't see how a this plane with a wingspan of 75 inches is only going to weigh in the 15# area. I hope that this does not turn into a plane in the 20# class.

The Goldberg 30% Ultimate with a wingspan of 70.5 inches is going to weigh in around 20 - 25#s and use up to a 75cc engine. They do state that it will be all balsa and plywood, maybe that is where all the weight is coming from.

Aero-Works also has a 27% Ultimate with a 63 inches wingspan. That one is going to weigh in at around 14-15#s with a 50cc engine.

Man try the new and improved 8611s they are sweome. I dont know how he is pulling it off at 15 pounds...thats why I didnt get one. I think a BME 55 Xtreme (I think its called) , DA50, or 3W (anything they have)!!! I would use the DA50 as it was designed for it. Did anyone see it fly? I did and it looked perty good. DA50 and all. Looked like it was good on performance

See ya guys later

All I have seen is the video on Chip's web site which states that the DA50R in the plane has only four flights on it. Chip can fly the snot out of anything. I just hope that some "production" airplanes are delivered and we see some sort of report here on RCU before I get the call that mine is ready. Hopefully the weight claimed is correct, if not I will kiss it off. [&o]

Well, I got mine today and it's no where near the advertised weight. I weighed all the parts on my digital postal scale and it came out to 11 lbs. By the time you stick eight servos in it along with all the other goodies and a DA 50 I'm estimating 18-19 lbs

I'm more than a little dissapointed........

What's anyones thoughts on exhaust systems for the DV with the DA 50? I want to use a tuned pipe and header system but I'm not sure what header I should use any thoughts?

I'd call Desert Aircraft and ask. They are always helpful.

I preordered one also, but I havent gotten any word on shipping yet. I too was very sceptical about the advertised weight. Thanks for posting your real weight here. The plane is big enough that it should fly fine at 19lbs but I dont think any 50cc class engine is powerful enough for unlimited 3D at that weight. Even the Magic DA 50. Maybe we will have to try a ZDZ60 or even a ZDZ80.

I called DA to find out what muffler to use and they are saying that Chip is using a simple side mount muffler. However the instructions for the plane show a slimline pitts. Go figure. I am cancelling my order for the DA 50 and looking for something larger. This plane is not light.
