SpaceWalker and YS110FZ Separates!!!!

Well,
I guess the YS 110FZ is WAY to much engine for the firwall of the GP Spacewalker. Today fore after only running about 6 tanks through her she came apart in flight today! The engine completely ripped the rear firewall away from the front section and pulled away. The engine ended up in the field about 200 yards away. The plane see sawed back and forth downward to the ground. Once I saw wherre the engine landed, I used elevator control to help the plane land belly first which it did. There was no other damage other than the firewall ripped from her. The engine was recovered and I gave it a semi good cleaning. I will have to break it down some before I can attempt to start it again.

Man, that was something. Flying along and then bang, fffffffffthhhhhderrrr there went the engine........ Maybe I'll pay attention to the directions and only mount a 70 on her next time.....grin.... she will live once again.........

That must have been one helluva save! At least now you know how to fly a severely tail-heavy plane! :)

What a happy ending to such a bad situation! A lot of people would have lost both engine and aircraft.
My GP Space Walker with .91 Surpass is in its 4th year of trouble-free flying. Oops, actually the gear tore out the first summer, no problems since. It's been my longest lasting and easiest flying model so far.

Unbelievable save! Also amazing is how clean the firewall separated. Kinda makes me glad I aded tristock and fiberglass behind the firewall before mounting the Zenoah G23 on mine.

I always reinforce all of my firewalls...just don't trust that hot glue...

Had the same plane w/a OS 91 4-stroke-loved that plane, but I did notice that the firewall looked like somebodys old closet door. The os didn't have the power of your engine, so the fw stayed put.

I have one of these with a .91 surpass. When I was putting it together I read someplace about the firewall being a problem. Anyway it suggested beefing it up. I added, if iremeber a piece of tristock on each side to the back of the firewall and running extra CA around the entire area. So far no problem.
