The Saito FA-60 twin engine is barely powerful enough to get a 5 pound trainer in the air let alone a 66" 20 pound biplane.

I think the plane may have been powered by something like a Saito 270 or 300 twin, or maybe an OS 300 twin, each costing in the $800.00 to $1000.00 range.

BTW, the guy that said that your plane flew 250 MPH (written by Marienwolff in a PM to me) was really dreaming. Maybe 100 MPH, or maybe he was thinking metric, but I don't think so.

Looks like you got sold a bill of goods.

I'd have to agree with Pettit, I' m pretty sure I have the same model as in your picture. Its powered with a Saito 270. You can probably find a used one for $400-$500 or a Saito 300. The plane is not a speed demon.

Can't seem to PM you, My kit is the old EZ kit. Its about 1/3 scale. A bit smaller than the new GP Eagle II. It is the Christen Eagle I. Single cockpit. Foam covering

I don't use MSN messenger. Yahoo and ICQ for me. You can post pics here on RCU. If you want to do a close up of the cockpit. The foam covered planes are stick built just covered with a funky kind of covering. Also the wing tips have a plastic edge cover on them. Mine is very brittle so I got the GP Eagle and am switching the motor over to the new plane

Your cockpit looks a bit different from mine, but its seems that the pilot, Byron and Ez kits were all very similar in size and shape. So now you know that it needs a big 4 stroke 370-300 or a small 50cc gas. What do you intend to put in it? Oh, don't forget to add smoke. Its not a real Eagle without it!
