Dave patrick fudging wing area
Using NASA calibrated measuring equipment, I calculated the wing area of my DP edge to be 980 sq inches and the extra to be 1031 sq inches. He claims on the box, these to have 1200 sq inches wing area. Is he including the wing area of the stab?, or the imaginary wing area in the fuse?, Or the area of lift from the fuse??? This means a wing loading of approx 35+ ozs/sqft for you people putting in gas engines for a weight of 15 lbs+. Hardly a good 3d setup I think. I dont get this. When you describe w area you are talking about the wing providing lift. Does this mean his big edge is really going to have a w area of 1500 ??????

Hmmm...
I don't have mine yet. Whats the individual panel length, root width and tip width? Curious but I don't really care: With an OS 1.60 it floats like a trainer and pulls good out of a hover. |
RE: Dave patrick fudging wing area
From what I understand, most of the manufacturers use the area through the fuselage to calculate the total wing area.

RE: Dave patrick fudging wing area
You must include all projected area from tip to tip and the projected root to the c/l of the fuselage.
This model at 15 lbs with a 40 gasser is a good performer even here at 4500 ft elevation. That imaginary wing area counts. |
RE: Dave patrick fudging wing area
dick Iam at 5000 ft would a DA 50 pullmy DP extra out of a hover the moki 1.8 will not
