I saw a friend's Dago Red snap on final approach. It was flown by an experienced warbird pilot and it was definitely not too slow. (1/4 throttle) Anyone hear of any similar experiences?

Mine used to land very hot! Not a good situation with weak landing gears.

They usually land on the hot side. I have the Midget and the Small P-51. Friend has the Dago. I almost snapped mine once when too slow

1/8" of reflex (UP aileron) tames that tendency. The reflex effectively washes out the wing and helps keep the airflow attached at lower speeds.

I have it mixed to the 'gear down' switch point on my WM Mustang. Try it sometime.

(It looks like I could well be wrong on this next sentence.) WM is the American distributor of OK/EZ. (I think more likely OK/EZ distributes some WM planes in Japan) I saw a bunch of Dago Reds and Voodoos in a pylon at a show the other day. It was pretty spectacular. What a nice flying plane. They were all flown by the company's pilots. One of them had a retract problem and had to make a gear up belly landing. It was cool to see.

good imput on trying the up aileron. I will have to set that up on my Dago next time I take her out for a spin. (no pun intended) I wouldnt mind seeing that nasty tip stall tendency go away. anyone tried putting on mini vortex generaters on the wing?

Cheers,

FW

Altech Marketing is the distributor for OK/EZ. www.modelrec.com not WM

:) OK. What are called World Model planes in America are always sold in Japan first as EZ/OK. I actually don't know if it is EZ/OK distributing World Models, or vice versa. Either way same plane, and a nice one at that.

The OK/EZ line-up in Japan is huge. For some reason they only export a small number of their planes as OK/EZ.

Cheers Eirik

The EZ/OK models don't resemble WM planes in the flesh. Even the hardware is different: also the covering. It's just hard to believe they are made by the same company. I am not saying Eirik is wrong, but I believe warhwk is nearer correct. Don't see any similarities between the two.

My OK/EZ Dago Red is sitting beside me getting its battery charged for flying tomorrow evening. It was purchased about eleven years ago and finished for flying this winter.

Every one of the Pilot/OK/EZ models that I have owned has flown better that any other warbirds of my experience. Mainly because they are so light weight and true in form and function.

Too bad they are so expensive and not available in 1/6 scale!

Oh, and they have no bad landing characteristics even coming in dead stick.

I think what it could be is actually EZ relabels some World Models planes under the EZ name and sells them here. I checked out the World Models page and saw some models they don't sell here.

Then again, they could just look the same. OK/EZ occupies to sections of the market here, the low end and the middle to high. I'm not really positive they are the same though. It could just be a coincidence.

ivarb,

I think you are mistaken. WM and EZ/OK models both make Dago Red and Voodoo mustang models, but I`m almost certain they are different companies and different models.

Can someone confirm this?

I believe I can confirm it. I think I was mistaken. Oops. There are so many planes re-labeled and sold under a different name it is easy to get confused. Sorry.

RE: WM Dago Red Mustang

There are companies that make the same models but call them different names in other countries. My company does that. Our product is marked up quite a bit for the asian and european market vs. the US market but we call the product a different name to avoid people buying them here in the US and shipping to other markets for profit. I know I know, why don't we charge the same everywhere to avoid that problem? Cost of living and values of the markets are more over there so why not get a piece of it right?
