H9 Taylorcraft Balancing

Just finished building the Hanger 9 Taylorcraft ARF . I would like to know what to look at for balancing the plane. I have been told to balance with the horiz stab being level. This would make the nose look downward. The manual does not explain how do balance. I have always look at the trust line of the fuse for a reference. I am not sure if this the case for the Tcraft. Can anyone give me some insight on this.

I put a G26 with a pitts muffler and used two servos under the horizonal stab for the elevators instead of the pushrod that the manual shows. The battery pack is under the fuel tank. If I balance the plane using the fuse trust line, the plane balances without additional weight. If I use the horiz stab as a referance, I have to add aprox 17oz of lead in the nose to balance.

I appreciate it if someone could give me some insight on this. Thanks, Joe
