FLIGHT OF THE SOMTHING EXTRA......!!!!!
 

What can I say......I don't even know how to find words to say what it felt like to fly my first aerobatic and first taildragger the VERY first time!!!!

It was great.....I know that I could have seen rails in the air that it was flying on...I SWEAR....it was like there was somethin' up there that was holdin it......wherever I pointed it, that's where it went.

Well, I have to admit I was very scared to actually take it off, so I go another guy to tweak the mixture, and take it off and fly it for about 3/4 tank. Man, what can I saw, he had it on low rates, the rolls were fine; then he fliped the D/R switch and it would roll 2-3 time/sec....incredibly fast snap rolls, and super tight loops.....If it didn't fall apart then with what he was doing then I knew it could handl just about anything..... Then, he brought it back in (where it then cut off, and he got it down and JUST about went off the runway.....) and we fueled it back up again.....

He took the plane back up, flew it around for about 1 minute and asked if I wanted to fly it.....At first I was hesatant, but eventually got hold of the radio and flew about 2 mistakes high. I kept it on low rates and did a few (about 10) rolls, and flew WITH AUTHORITY at only HALF THROTTLE (actually a little below half) on a OS .46AX..................!!!!!

Well, it was cold and I was shaking so I handed the radio back to him and he brough it in to a 3 point landing........PERFECT.........

Well, I just can't wait to go back up probably this weekend.....YYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY............... .................

The only problem is, I can fly it, but the problem is taking it off......I'll get to it sometime.....

Sorry you guys that I don't have video.....( I meant to take the camera, but was so anxious to get out to the field that I worgot it....)......Oh well......

You have nothing to be worried about taking this plane off. Just punch the throttle and keep her straight, it will be off the runway in no time. I have to build another kit, this has got to be the most forgiving fun airplane out there.

I really enjoyed the flights I had on mine, I just have to build another.....

GOOD PLANE, BUT THE SOMETHING EXTRA SPOILS A PILOT. IT DOES EVERYTHING THAT YOU ASK THE PLANE TO DO AND THEN SOME. I FOUND THAT MINE DID NOT LIKE TO CLIMB ON KNIFE EDGE SO I ADDED A BIGGER RUDDER. MUCH BETTER.

THIS PLANE MAKES A BEGINNER LOOK LIKE A PRO. WHEN YOU CHANGE PLANES YOU WILL BE A DIFFERENT PILOT ALL OVER AGAIN.

im glad you had a better time with yours than mine when i took it for my first flight my alerons were hooked up backwards. lol my mistake little ply and balsa and shel fly again.

You didn't check the correct way on the ground??


Well, I know that it really does spoil me......I really think that it's gonna be REALLY HARD to go back to that trainer....it will be very different.....this plane is so sensitive even on low rates, I can't wait till I hit the switch for the HIGH RATES......

I didn't want to take the plane off because this my only second plane and first taildragger, so I really didn't want to risk anything......this plane is my pride and joy for now being only my second plane....I'll probably be taking it off and landing it this weekend when I go back and fly again........

I remember years ago when I was stepping up into new,more powerful and capable aircraft.It was very exiting.Welcome to the world of aerobatics! Soon you will be comfortable with your new bird and wanting to get a bigger and more powerful one...all the best and good luck!

Well, actually, I'm already thinking about another plane.......either the UCD 40 or Funtana......Leaning toward the Funtana..I wanna 3D plane....gonna put a 90 on the front...4 Stroker baby!!!......

If you got a 90 4stroker,then you cant go wrong with the Funtana..
Just get as much sticktime on your plane as possible.really get good and comfy with it,then stepping into the Funtana will be like getting into a silky smooth good looking high performance sports car,that you can tweak just right for you..;)

Do you fly with York County Flyers?? Me and my Dad were with them from the start...put in the sprinkler system at the field long time ago...I recently went to the website and couldn't believe how much it has changed (better).

Yepperz, I sure do!!....Have been with them for about 2 years now....If it's not too far away, come on up here and come flying again....I'm probably gonna be out there this Sat. the 7th gettin sommor stick time on that Somethin' Extra....I really haven't seen where the sprinkler system is....NEVER seen it @ all.....
