Modeltech Joss stick covering problem

Just bought this ARF as a test bed for OS120FS - cheap, big, simple, quick. Covering had quite a few wrinkles - Thinks I, no problem will shrink that later. Start beefing up firewall area, changing mounting points for inverted etc. Try to shrink wing covering (film over foam&balsa) - start on an aileron with iron at same setting I have used for years. No impression. Crank up heat setting until its about 95% of adjustment - some improvement, but not good. Mmmmm , will this be safe over a foam wing??? Not very happy. No response from Global Hobby, or the retailer to calls for advice on how to do this safely. I have been in the game 20 years, so I am not a novice at film covering - I have been covering with Soarfilm, solartex, coverite etc successfully for ages.
Anybody else BTDT please?
thanks,
jp

RE: Modeltech Joss stick covering problem

It has to be the same covering as on my new/used Dragon Lady. A very heat resistant film that I think they purchased surplus fire suit material from NASA. My only wrinkles were over balsa and I would hate to try to take them out over foam with an iron. If your plane has false balsa cap strips, then I'd try to take out sags on the underside first. As long as you'd have an air pocket between foam and film, it might just work. SolarFilm it ain't.
