building first airplane

I have a thunder tiger size 60 trainer with radio and engine already installed. My problem is the installion of the horizontal stabilizer. The manual states to install the vertical stab first but since I bought one with radio and engine already installed the vertical stab is already together. So when I slide the horizontal stab into place the top side looks fine there are tabs coming down from vertical stab to glue onto the horizontal stab. The bottom however has a gap that starts half way down the horizontal and runs to the complete aft side of the airplane and opens up to a gap of about 4 mm. The only way to clamp it closed is with my fingers and I am not sure I can hold it there until the epoxy sets up. I also have so medium adhesive I might try to in between there along with some epoxy but I don't no my chances of it coming back apart. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on this situation.

I would use 30-min epoxy, and glue it in place. Then have a shim ready to epoxy under the stab. Don't worry about completely sealing the gap, if you get more then 50%, that should be good enough.

Just make sure that the stab is level with the wing, and square to the fuse!
