Wild Hare Extra Special

I have now joined the list of those eagerly awaiting the arrival of Wild Hare's Extra Special. I am very excited to find a new home for my 3W60 which had found 1/4 scale airframes a little smallish and 1/3 scaler's a little large. At 28% this airplane should fit my needs perfectly for a relatively low cost 3D capable gasser. I have read a lot of good things about the Wild Hare Edge and I expect the Extra Special will not dissappoint. Now I have until the first week of April to get my shop cleaned up and ready for it. I also have to cannibalize my 1/3 Pitts for the engine and radio gear.

Sigh...March is going to be one long month!

Now I'm starting to wonder...3W60 or DA50? I just pulled the 3W60 off my Pitts and weighed it. 5 lbs. 14 oz. with the ignition module, muffler, prop, and spinner. YIKES! Should I sell it and buy a DA50? Anybody have any power / weight comparisons or opinions regarding these engines? I would much rather be toward the light end than the heavy end of the airplane's intended flying weight.

I'm eyeballin' the 300LX right now and was wondering if it would accomadate the 3W cannister muffler? On the 3W extra fun there is a tunnel in the fuse for it. Is that just on 3W models or could I expect to see it on the Wild Hare? Joe
